_Chalk tip_ - Somewhere on Etsy there was a maker in Germany who used to make plastic tailor's chalk sharpeners. The thing is brilliant. Saves so much time. This is so beautiful. Something about it makes it look so much more modern than it really is. I think it's the contrast gold buttons against the white tweed along with the strong geometric style lines, it's giving Olivier Rousteing's Balmain.

The gold buttons do make the dress look a little more modern. Covered buttons would work better. However, you need a pill box hat, maybe, in the same color as that gorgeous dress.

Since you asked - the first thing that I thought when I saw the dress on, you was oh my it would’ve looked so much better with covered buttons in the tweed. The metallic buttons tend to make it look more like a military style outfit. The elegance of the pearl encrusted tweed might be better with tweed covered buttons as well. You’re an amazing seamstress. I wish I was your petite size so I could buy patterns off the shelf. I always have to alter things and it’s really a pain. Bravo to you for such beautiful construction.

I wore an Oleg Cassini for my wedding, so I know what you mean about those dresses. My mom bought it for me and then my first wedding didn’t happen. I saved that dress and 5 years later got to wear it. I tried on other dresses just to see if I wanted to start fresh but no… nothing came close to that Oleg Cassini. Your Cassini is stunning. So gorgeous. I like the gold, too!

Oh wow; This is a Beautiful, Classy, and Simple elegant dress and accourse, you're a Beautiful Black Queen 👑😉👍! And I can see this dress made into a "Wedding Dress" with Overlay Lace-Bodice that has a Scalloped -edge hemline which ends at the begining flare of the Hips. Then then the skirt of the dress could be continued as either a "Floor -Lenght" straight -cut skirt with a Detachable Train or a "Mermaid -Style" dress with a "Pencil/Tapered-Cut" skirt with a "Lace- Overlay" circular -skirt that forms the "Fish-Tail and Train" of the Mermaid -Style Wedding Dress😉👍!

I suggest ditching the white shoes. They distract (IMHO) from that exquisite dress. Maybe some skin-toned shoes would be nice and give you an uninterrupted line.

I'd switch out the buttons, covering them with the tweed, pearl or silver. No matchy matchy; contrast perhaps? I'm not getting off a silver paring with this dress; it has that Jetson vibe. It can be dressed up with a stiletto for Capote's Swan while power lunching. Or more subdued for church or ladies auxiliary with a kitten heel. How long have you been sewing? You're young and seemed to have been sewing all your life.❤✊️✌️👌😻🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛
