This is so helpful! I've only had my machine and walking foot for a couple of months, and I've been afraid to use this foot because it looks so complicated. Now that I'm nearly finished with my first quilt, it's time to figure it out, and you've helped me immensely. Thank you so much! You've taken a lot of the fear away. I love your videos!

I always REALLY enjoy your videos! I’m binge watching/listening to them again as I’m cutting out a baby quilt. I have to study the embroidery & cut tool ones in front of the TV, but it’s always good to re-hear your tips. If you teach classes, I’ll bet your students are now expert happy quilters!

Well. I’ve learnt something new today. I’ve had walking feet for all my Bernina’s since the 70’s and I’ve never been shown how to put them on and I’ve always put them on with my left hand. Soooo much easier with the right hand. Thank you Shelly.

Hi great video, just a quick question, can we use the walking foot instead of the blindstitch foot #5? the walking foot has 3 type of attachments. I have a bernina 1008. Is it worth me investing in the blind stitch foot or will the walking foot suffice? Thanks so much.
@SewShelly Жыл бұрын
You will need a blindstitch foot. This will edgestitch.

Any input about the aftermarket walking feet kits out there? The Quilters out there - let me know? Thanks. The one I bought 40 years ago works on my Necchi, White & Slant 401. I scored a Berni 930 for the grand daughter & she needs the tool accessories!
@SewShelly6 ай бұрын
Your BERNINA dealer can get a walking foot for the 930. Actually any of the feet can be purchased for the older machines. I still love my 930. She is a workhorse.

Shelly would you recommend using a 5.5 mm stitch plate with the walking foot? Thanks for your brilliant demonstration.
@SewShelly3 жыл бұрын
If you have one that would be great. I do not have one for my 9mm machine and have no issues. It is nice to have the smallest opening for control of the fabric.

I mostly sew knits & wondered if there is any markings on the walking foot that help you achieve a 1/4 inch seam allowance?
@SewShelly4 жыл бұрын
Yes! one of the lines on the foot is 1/4 inch. just get your measuring tape or ruler to decide which one it is. It is marked both to the left and the right.

If I have a BSR do I still need a Walking Foot? I have the 770 QE … thank you!
@SewShelly Жыл бұрын
Yes. It is for a different style of stitching. The BSR is for free motion quilting with the feed dogs down. The walking foot is for 3 or more layers with the feed dogs up.

Do they need oiling? I’ve hardly used mine but I used it the other day and after a few stitched squares it became very noisy and stitched poorly so I gave up with it!

@SewShelly2 жыл бұрын
I assume everything can break. I would just make sure that you are hooking the fork of the walking foot over the needle bar so that it raises and lowers making the foot walk.

Hello, your site id great. I have used it to try to attach my walking foot to my machine, I have accounted a problem my walking foot has the little node only on the left side, I need it on the right. I got the machine from my mum, and this included the foot. is there any way to attach it, the clamp that attaches all the feet and arms is the opposite to yours.

This walking foot is for a BERNINA machine. You need to get a walking foot that is made for your model and manufacturer of the machine.

Does New Style mean that it will work with dual feed with the guides out to the side?
@SewShelly5 жыл бұрын
Yes. The new walking feet came out 4 or 5 years ago and the seam guides work well with the dual feed machines. You can tell if the one you have is new or old by how.many soles are with the foot. New had 3 total including the one on the foot and the old style has 2 total including the one on the foot.

Hello, I am trying to find a part for my wife. She has a walking foot #50 and needs a part. I guess you would call it a connector for the seam guides? It looks like a squared off horse shoe with a screw on it. I'm new on KZbin and cannot figure out how to put a picture here. Thanks for any help someone can give me.

Does the walking foot you have fit on aB750 Quilters Edition. I got a lot of error messages that not all feet work with this device. Maybe I was using wrong stitch plate. What are the set up requirements, pressure, stitch length?
@SewShelly4 жыл бұрын
Your walking foot should work fine in the 750. Any stitch. The walking foot has a maximum stitch width of 5.5mm. Choose the style of stitch, width and length according to your project.

On mine you cant attach the guides. The new walking foot does have the part you screw into the back. I have the 750 QE. Another couple hundred dollars waisted.

@@jeannepalmer7240 if you look online I think you can find a workaround to use the guides on your old walking foot so it does not hit the dual feed. That is what everyone did before the new one came.out. Your walking foot without the guide should work just fine.
