Free Easy reversible, DIY, changeable, long hair or short hair, male or female, Scrub Caps... No pattern or download needed :) And if you don't have elastic you can use the small piece of ribbon! The elastic is designed just to hold the hair and keep the back of the hat gathered together. The ties hold the hat onto your head not the elastic.
This is the flexible Bodkin that I used amzn.to/2JUA1aw

I do the cutting and my wife does the sewing. She is up to 175 hats in the past 3 weeks for our local hospital. Thank you for the easy pattern (from my wife!). Before that my wife made over 700 masks. I am so proud of her work.

Thank you for the tutorial, My wife has just lost her hair due to chemo for breast cancer, she loves sewing and this has helped her take control of the hair loss and a project to keep her mind occupied. She played with the dimensions slightly to get a best fit and used slightly wider ties to make a feature of the bow and padded out the “gather” with bundle of muslin.

Thank you for sharing so many wonderful ideas, patterns, and tips! For those who need to see supplies written out, like me, it sounds like the pattern requires: Two 18 x 22 inch rectangles of main fabric(s) One 2.5 x 45 inch fabric strip (or 2- 2.5 x 22.5 inch fabric strips) One 8 inch piece of elastic :)

As I watched this video I imagined that these caps would be welcomed by women who may have cancer and have lost their hair. How pretty to make them with bright and colorful prints. I appreciated the fact that you could simply fold the cap and make a cuff. So many uses for a simple pattern. Thanks!

We would really appreciate them. I used to have a head of beautiful long thick silky hair. Not anymore thanks to ibrance. But hey, it is keeping me alive. (Well GOD is but let’s keep going for now.) Not only hair loss from Chemo but hair loss, thinning, or change due to a number of factors: chemo, CDK inhibitors, loss of estrogen in CA pts from treatment, aromatase inhibitors, alopecia (immune system attacks hair follicles and kills them), trauma, anxiety (hair pulling), etc...can you tell i was a RN before MBCA (metastatic [this means stage 4, the last stage] breast cancer)? Don’t forget the kiddos! Can this pattern be downsized for the kids?

This is one of the BEST tutorials for a much needed product I have come across in years!! And you're so easy to listen to and great to look at, to boot! I am a Paramedic, and have been struggling with configuring my hair (short), goggles, glasses, face mask, in the heat of SW Florida, and it's been just a mess. I am STILL experimenting with methods and figuring out the right sequence to don on the equipment, for our specific setting, in a way I can continue seeing without getting fogged up, keep my hands from having to come back to my head for adjustments after I engaged in patient care, and remove the head/face protections in the right sequence once I'm finished. I think the right head gear will help the rest fall in place. I have baby-soft post-chemo very thin hair which holds nothing, and a small egg-shaped head (that is, that prominent curve in the back is not as prominent), and ball caps have helped keep stuff in place from sliding, but are not the ultimate solution. I have my machines ready to go into action experimenting with mask designs (not for work, unfortunately) and head coverage (for work), and hundreds of pounds of fabric to do it with. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I Need this badly!!

My daughter just got her first job in a restaurant and the owners told her she needed to bring her own "chef's cap" to keep her hair up and out of the way (they only provide hair nets.) So happy to find this video with a familiar face (I also made drawstring pouches from another one of your videos!) This was so much easier to follow than the PDF patterns I downloaded, and fun to sew! My daughter wore it to work and now every one of her female co-workers wants one, so I am making a half dozen more to coordinate with the restaurant's colors/logo!

Oh this video is just fabulous!!! The instructions are clear and easy to follow and not too technical with great results. I made two of these today to keep my hair out of my eyes when I wear a shield at work. Thank you so very much for creating and sharing. It means so much to be able to share in your passion and enthusiasm for sewing. 🥰🌈🥰🌈🥰🌈

Thank you so much Laura Ann! You are such a pleasant lady! I love listening to you! I had great fun making this cap for my daughter who is a travel nurse working with Covid patients! She asked me to make her some caps and I was happy to find a simple but lovely cap to make. For just a few dollars I made this cap instead for spending $30 or more! Thanks again! ☺

I love it! What a great pattern & definitely great instructions! Thank you so much! All my 1/4 in. elastic went into making face masks but I do have 1/2 in. What a great bonnet to throw on when you have to run to the store quick AND I can pair it with a matching face mask. New fashion trend! 😀 Thank you again! You are keeping us inspired & busy! 💗

LaRae, I hope you don't mind my responding to your comment. I made a couple of old fashioned prairie bonnets a year ago, and when we needed masks this year I used leftover fabric from those bonnets. So I have been wearing my puffy prairie bonnets with matching masks and having a good time doing my grocery shopping!

Cut up pantyhose makes a good elastic as well. just make the stripes wider, when you stretch them they get smaller and then nothing will fray. they are quite elastic - not as much as the bought ribbons, but quite good. and the waist bands are very elastic.

@@deepattison9329 , does the masking tape leave a sticky residue? I have seen plenty of videos with it being used, is there a preferred type of tape to use? I'm trying to tame my new overlocker (serger) & this sounds like a good way to mark out seam allowances. Thank You :)

Nicarey 71 You can use blue painters tape or this is what I’ve been using for years-“Sewing Edge - Reusable Vinyl Stops for Your Machine: 5 Strips Quilt with Marci Baker”. It’s on Amazon for about $10.00. I only use 1 strip a year so it’s worth it! & it really helps my seams to be the perfect 1/4” 🙂 🧵

O. M. G. This video had me sitting up and taking notes then heading directly to my crafting corner. What a game changer! I love the way you showed how to make the "ponytail" in the back and that it's reversible! I always make bows with my scarves when I tie them on my head so I definitely saw a kindred spirit in this video. I don't work in a hospital but I have a lot of bad/lazy hair days. I am going to figure out how to do it slightly less bouffant for a male nurse I know.
