The difficult thing regarding Philip is that in his life, his parallel universe he is happy. To try and convince him that some other form of life would be preferable would be impossible. One of the values of Mark's videos is that he humanizes others for us. People we would normally dismiss as creepy, gross, losers ....he puts a face on. He lets us get to know them. Watching the videos they are chatting with us. We see they are people. Like us in many ways. People who have lost their way, become confused, have lost hope, live in delusions. Addicts with little hope who have traveled hard roads. Sex workers who hold onto their humanity with a thread. And, in some little way we come to love them. We begin to root for them. This is the gift that Mark brings to the earth. In his own way he is helping humanity to heal and the viewer probably is healed more than the subjects. Thank you, Mark, for making the earth a better place.

Even though it seems he's being open right now in this interview we aren't in his head 24/7, and even though he said it it's obvious he's embarrassed about talking about it. I see a child abuse survivor that became hyper sexualized by the ADULT black men he was in close proximity to. This could have happened to anyone, any race, any gender role reversal, etc. It’s just really sad to see he has such a kind heart and wants to please others inherently because of his trauma. Wouldn't that be age 14 when he first tried to see if he was gay. I have never seen a 14 year old act like this but I guess since he's from a different time, maybe this is the way he act back then. Thing is this only happens to some people. Not all.

It's true. Imagine being the most mature 5 year old. I stayed 5 but I did mature in a lot of ways; but I express myself in what people perceive as childlike. Which I am childlike but I also deeply love history and literature and I am knowledgeable in to some degree. I also enjoy writing while I read. (It's inspiring) The way I act does not come across that way and sadly people treated me as if I was extremely stupid. I like this channel because it's mostly positive, even when dealing with people who aren't considered positive. This channel humanizes many different people. I say this because I'm scared of someone being mean to me. Just hoping people are positive with me as well.

@mr krabs You got me all wrong, I'm not expressing my personal views on women im expressing my views on how American society views women's worth. Women are "trained to serve" and are very much trained to satisfy, from a very young age they're read fairy tales like Snow White and sleeping beauty, both in which the female damsel goes into a sleep-coma and is only able to come back to life by the nonconsentual kiss of a man they've never even met. In this women are taught that they are at their best… when they are unconscious. in a more vague sorta way since both Cinderella and Snow White were mistreated by their much older than them mother, who even go as far as to abandon them, In this women are told that women who are more beautiful than them are a direct threat to them... I could go on but I am already asleep good nite.

My dad is a sex addict. I witnessed him trying to pick up women while out with myself and my siblings, and when they asked if we were his kids, he would deny that we were his children. He’s white and prefers women of color. He’s lost jobs because of it, and he would get extremely angry when frustrated and sometimes physically abuse me. I noticed a lot of similarities to the way this guy talks (minus the gayness), and the fetish for people of color. I feel that there’s not enough awareness around this subject, and it’s unfortunate that a lot of people who were sexually abused as children deal with it by becoming hyper sexual as adults, and how this behavior is encouraged by society. This guy seems like he is trying to fill a void and has low self esteem. I appreciate Mark bringing awareness to this subject.

My god...I'm so sorry you were exposed to that growing up. When you said he'd get aggressive when frustrated that rang like a bell. An ex-friend of mine had this issue. She was molested when she was young and I think it made her hypersexual and all kinds of aggressive. Magnified when she was drinking which was frequent. She had a very hard time making and keeping friends - female friends in particular. And I never knew if this had something to do with sexual "competition," real or imaginary. But she's abusive. Her life is absolute chaos and it leaves well-meaning people in its wake. It also attracts a lot of people who do not have good intentions. It blights every aspect of her life. This does need to be talked about more frequently in a serious way. I'd like to know your thoughts about how we talk about it now. Lately it seems that any celebrity (male) caught with his pants down claims sexual addiction. How seriously do you take them?

This is true, I lived it and I'm living the consequences of having an abusive (mentally, physically and sexually) childhood which is why I treat children around me with love and respect. I know that when I was a child mean words had a lot of power in me so I never even say bad things as a joke to children, like I've seen people telling children as a joke that they're ugly or fat and that's very very traumatic for children. For example, my old sis was very abusive to me physically but her words caused me more pain, she called me stupid, ugly and fat everyday. I grew up with low self esteem and developed anorexia, binge eating, I become 200lbs one month and then go down to 100lbs and then go up again, it's been a constant battle with food for many years. Also, I grew up in a very problematic household. My step father would drink everyday and cause fights w my mom everyday and my mom...it was like she wasn't there. She never asked how our day was, never sat down w us and gave us advice and she always chose the abusive man. Now we're all adults and all my brothers are into drugs and my parents often ask themselves "what have we done to deserve these kids as drug addicts??" As if it wasn't their fault, as if they were amazing parents who never fought and who gave attention and priority to their kids but they weren't. My brothers are all drug addicts and even alcoholic like their dad. I'm a huge mess with eating disorders, severe anxiety, low self esteem, always depressed and unable to have a relationship w a man so I'm single and without kids. The one that caused me more pain seems to be better. My older sister. She found a good man, got married, have two kids, her own house....the life I always wanted but will never have. Life is funny.

You'd be surprised by how many teens are let.down by their parents. I know childhood is important for bonding and stuff but teenage years are extremely important when it comes to navigating sex, self-esteem, social interactions, etc. If a parent isn't there to guide their teen or a teen feels like they can't openly speak to their parents, then that's brings a whole slew of problems

@@naturallaw1733 Possibly. If it were a woman, it may be getting the same amount of negative feedback. I think we all judge everything consciously or subconsciously. That is why we choose to look a certain way, wear certain clothes, choose to be around certain people, prefer certain types of books or movies, eat certain food, etc. Beauty and attraction is in the eye of the beholder unless one would find everything in this world or any other beautiful. Ultimately, I can not judge them for liking, disliking, or being turned off by his lifestyle or his choices. However, that is HIS right as an individual as long as no laws are broken coded by "society" which is an entirely different topic of discussion all together. But yes, to criticize him or have disdain toward this man is completely wrong. I also agree with what I read in another comment. Drugs are an escape from reality and sex is his escape from reality. When your violated for the pleasure of another you can go one of two ways - 1. Become very uncomfortable with sex 2. Somehow believe that is what your worth is and continue to seek out approval from others via sex.

nice to see someone in the comments being honest for once. he seems like a nice guy but i had a stint in being like him and once you let go of the addiction and stop letting people take advantage of you via “BDSM” you look back and you feel ashamed that you asked for people to hurt you, because that is sincerely what it is. you look back, hurt by your own actions. nobody has ever abused me but i was 100% abusing myself. it is so sad for me to look back and wonder how i suppressed the shame of lying to my mom constantly that facial bruises were from the dog. and again i 100% asked for them and thought it was all fun, hot, whatever. but the fact is you are hurting yourself in the long run. it took me years to stop obsessing over sex and the bdsm lifestyle. i still get stuck in fantasizing thoughts and have to get myself out of it. my grades in college suffered so much and it’s been hard going back to school and trying to work at the same time. but i know in the future i will know true pleasure from being married in a vanilla relationship, happy in a career, doing better for myself and pushing sex far on the back burner. i say, never again.

@@OrangeHeadTM Agreed. Just like with any trauma, you can get help. You can break the cycle. You don't have to become the monster they expect you to be. Alcoholic's kids don't have to be drunks. Kids that were abused don't need to put their future wives and children through hell. The more you do for yourself, the more you discount who they were to you and others in their lives. They don't deserve the credit of having any type of impact other than in their own lonely, pathetic existence, and eventually their tortured demise. They need to know how little of a difference they made in the lives that meant so damn little to them, and to see these people turned out better people for it, despite their ill attempts to make them suffer alongside them.

Reading this as a gay man I actually see how a lot of decisions I made as a young person could have led me down this road. Even now I struggle with sex addiction, and struggle with the facts that I too, asked older men to show me the way when I was altogether too young to be experiencing those things. The most jolting part of this interview for me is how Phillip almost brags about his experiences, you can tell he wears them like a badge of honor and that during his sexual exploits he has intense moments of lucidity that he attaches to. I feel that whenever sexual conversations come up with friends or new people I tend to overshare and the shock factor alone of the experiences of many gay men captivate others. I've noticed I too will downplay my own feelings about events that happened to keep peoples attention. I hope Phillip has a safe life and finds joy in other aspects of his existence. I send this man so much love.

If I am learning anything from these videos, that is talk to your kids early about the sensations the body, mind and soul go through as we begin puberty but also when we are very young. Or they will go elsewhere for their info. The thing is society and the powers that be that are grooming our children to go in a direction for their agenda over us, has more pull over our own children. Dialogue, listen and deal with it. Get it out on the table before movies, tv, ads, billboards, video games, commercials, school systems that bombard us from infancy. This stuff breaks my heart. What I am appreciating, of which I have known, there are far more sexual abuse towards little boys than people realize. Of course little girls and infants even. People refuse to look at it but then want to judge and complain. We need to educate ourselves, and listen and be there for those who need someone to go to. God Save the Children. I really was drawn to Philip's portrait. His face, that look...the overalls...fingernail polish...all tell his story....
