In the UK we do actually get a button as a checkout operator for that exact situation, it calls a supervisor who can potentially refuse the sale and also buys time for you to get their description memorised. Anything like huge amounts of bleach or chemicals, lighter fluid, multiple knives, a lot of sugar, etc. Its not specifically a panic button because it's the same button that calls the supervisor for every other issue too but still

Wow that is awesome. Why do we not have that in the US? The only button we have that I know of is at the teller window at banks. This alerts the local police station that it is being robbed. It sets off a silent alarm while the police are notified immediately. But sadly it’s so well known (thanks Hollywood for putting it in every movie about bank robberies) that they will make the teller remove their hands from under the desk before the employee even knew what is about to happen. We should have something like this in all stores but especially big retail stores such as Walmart and Target that have a little of everything as well as stores that sell a lot of hunting equipment that have guns and knives. Come on USA, do better! Even one life saved is completely worth this type of technology!

Hey I just wanted to add something, have limits. What I mean is that dont go overboard it will push your child away and lead them right into situations like this. My mom was never overbearing and I tell her everything, my best friends mom is very overbearing (trying to keep her safe) and my friend feels like she doesn't know how she is as a person, my friend has also put herself in very dangerous situations but couldn't go to her mom because she knew her mother wouldn't react well. That was a personal anecdote, but a lot of people have agreed that as a child having overbearing parents actually made them less safe. The world is dangerous so make your home a sanctuary and not an interrogation room. Just a thought to consider

@@xxcallmeniaxx3272 I can relate to this. I grew up in the 80’s before cell phones and social media. My mother was EXTREMELY over protective and cautious to the point of being fearful. I was not allowed to do much at all and I felt like I was driven to lie and be secretive. I just wanted to be a regular teenager and fo to the movies and spend time with friends. I practically had to beg to do anything. I made a conscious effort to raise my girls differently. We are open, honest and they don’t have to hide anything from me.
