3 sex pistols are playing Bush Hall, Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, next week 13,14,15 with Frank Carter on vocals. They should have asked this Johnny here as he played with Wobble and Keith PiL metal box gigs about 12years ago and it was like john lydon early , the good, PIL If you don’t know.. Shepherds Bush is where Cook &Jones grew up.. and The Who….😊

He loved New York and thought it was all so great, he’d been there once. ‘New York’ was originally Steve’s riff and John came up with the lyrics to wind up Malcolm. John: The only thing anyone knew about this so-called New York scene was what Malcolm would tell us. It was hard to listen to the same old stories night after night, slightly changed each time. It got blown out of all proportion and the mythology of it became unbearable. The song is a reaction to that. It used to be spectacular fun to play the song live. The folks at the Longhorn Ballroom in Texas had the same opinion as us about New York. Everything that came out of there was poetry based and too arty. These people were much older than us and had more old-fashioned attitudes, they still do!

Listen to sex pistols sound check last gig San Francisco. Sid is playing Ramones tunes in time… he could play but his tainted blood fluids probably had a negative bearing…and he was recorded playing bass on one number although I think Steve doubled it

@@brianmansfield666 I’ve heard it, and he’s keeping up but isn’t pushing the song forward at all - the best part about that soundcheck recording is Sid speaking in a spot-on Jamaican patois 😂. I’m also aware that Sid’s bass track (albeit a buried, farty-sounding version) appears on the Bollocks version of “Submission.” This tribute band bassist is (still) clearly more proficient at his instrument, though-he can flail around the stage AND still hit all the notes.
