Ok so I've been replying to a lot of comments here since this video was posted, and every time I get a new reply and come back, I can see that the like-dislike ratio is looking worse. So I wanna say something to the creators behind this channel. As someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community in a country where "hate crime" is not even a term as those are considered more of a "service for society" by most people here, I have to say that I really appreciate this video. It is incredibly important to talk about these topics openly. And you probably knew that the response wouldn't be the best and that you might even lose some subs, but you still decided to make this video and upload it. I think that says a lot about you as human beings. My respect for you and your work has grown even more because of this. Thank you.

I believe the Gender discussion has gone out of hand. At the gay pride in Washington last year, people were protesting because they felt excluded, while the gay pride fights for acceptence of the entire community. People come up with many genders, but keep making boxes for themselves, because they don't want to be put in a box, is counterproductive. Anyone should be able to be who they want to be and love who they want to love (as long as that person agrees).
@TitusRedwind6 жыл бұрын
TeamRCXD You have summed up my opinion perfectly. Labels are way too limiting. Gender and orientation are unique from person to person so there's no way that we could ever create a system that works for everyone.
@lordmew56 жыл бұрын
TeamRCXD that's fine be who you want to be and love whatever consenting adult you want. The problem is transgender/gender nonconforming people dont exist in American society. Like it was stated in the video gender is a construct it's only meaning can come from what is made of it. In America we only identify 2 genders based purely on sex. So if you are a part of American society you can only be one of the genders. One's own gender identity means nothing if it defies the the the arbitrary limits we have on the construct.

Hetro, Homo, Bi, and Ace seem to be the main 4 sexualities with other labels in between. But I'm confused. There's Adroromantic, which means attraction to masculinity. How is that a sexuality?? There's an orientation for every little feeling and a label for you to pick and choose which one you want like it's some fun club and it's making very confused
@spiritedrenee98956 жыл бұрын
NeonMix, I know. There's a name for each little ting that is slightly different from the norm and is now being pushed into the LGBT+ community. I don't want say something that might invalidate these people because they might really be gay/trans etc. but mostly because I'll get called a bigot. I just don't understand how you can believe that no one can tell you that yo might be wrong because they're not feeling the same thing you're feeling, so they don't know anything and that makes it automatically correct. There are definitions to these things like being trans. It feels like political side had taken over to the point where we have a lot of people claiming or believing they are Queer or something from brainwashing. They then tell others exactly what LGBT+ is when they themselves aren't.

I see your I just think people these days are getting way to caught up on labels.
@SevCaswell6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunatly labels are how society functions, people are pressured into declaring I'm X or I'm Y, but the 'big' labels like gay or bisexual don't feel like they fit so people come up with ever more specialised labels, when in reality every single person experiences gender and sexuality in a different way, so there is no label that will ever fit everyone, except for 'human'. (and even then I feel there are some who aren't even that either)
@louise5586 жыл бұрын
About the question about attraction to masculinity, MY interpretation is that it doesn't really matter how you identify yourself, but if you seem more masculine than feminine they would be attracted to you. And if you're more feminine, despite your gender, then they wouldn't be attracted. I imagine it's something along those lines :'D (Then again, it's what comes to my mind when reading "attraction to masculinity", I'm in no ways an expert or something like that :'D )

You explained this very well, but I believe the problem lies in the fact that there’s a lot of people who misuse the term gender, and use it more for describing personality rather than their sexual orientation. Also people who say they sexually identify as an inanimate object sort of ruin the whole concept of gender, because no one takes it serious and inanimate objects aren’t in anyway a sexuality. A similar argument can be made by sexually identifying as another animal, or something else that’s living, because for one it doesn’t make much sense, because it doesn’t seem right classify an animal group as a sexuality.
@plasticflowered39586 жыл бұрын
Wait, you also got it wrong. Gender isn't the sexual orientation of one people. It's the role they have in a society. How they feel masculine? Feminine? Both or none?

We don't "Invent" new genders/sexuality/etc. we just give them a name that they never have, because they were never recognized. You can say that all sparrow are sparrow, but when someone points that "This is a house sparrow, this is a wood sparrow, this is a song sparrow, and this is a White-throated sparrow", you should listen. There are no wrong in calling sparrow species by the wrong name, but when the sparrow correct you "No, i'm not a song sparrow, i'm a white-throated sparrow" you should listen to it. We may discover more sparrow species, and you have no right to say "More sparrow? why make it complicated? it's just sparrow". We dont make the rule. It just is different. but all together it's a sparrow. It's a bird and we are all birds, we're all the same.

I liked how the video tries to explain a complicated and nuanced topic in an approachable and non-judgemental way. One thing I would add is that not conforming to societal expectations of gender doesn’t mean that you must identify as non-binary or transgender (although it might). You may still identify with the gender you were assigned at birth (or you might not). I wanted to clarify this because there’s one part in the video where it sounded like the narrator was saying these people are by definition non-binary or transgender (e.g. a girl who likes action figures) and I’m pretty sure that wasn’t their intention. They also said that gender identity is how we identify and how we personally interpret our gender, which makes sense to me.

The issue we need to fight is actually GENDER STEREOTYPE ROLES!!. I can be male and love pink (i actually do) and its totally fine. I'm still male. Womanhood is a social construct, it changes in every culture the expectations of women. This is where people get confused. The similarities in gender/sex are due to the fact that biological females/males have traits that are common to them cross culturally because of pure biology. Female brain has specific traits, the same goes for males. Then society adds its expectations on us too. And if gender is a social construct why do you need to transition to feel accepted. I learned something: the difference between gender and Sexual orientation, which are often incorrectly thought to be the same thing. However, gender and sexual orientation are two distinct aspects of our identity. Gender is personal (how we see ourselves), while sexual orientation is interpersonal (who we are physically, emotionally and/or romantically attracted to).
@5th-Season2 жыл бұрын
I define gender as either being born a male or female. Sexual orientation who you wanna f**k. How you see yourself is just self perception, and how you feel is just your feelings. I dont understand this idea that gender is separate from biological sex. If it's not decided by biological sex, then it's decided by how you feel, which changes all the time, and really becomes a meaningless term.

To clarify: Gender isn't necessarily "whatever you make it out to be", as that could be interpreted as people can identify as _anything._ What they mean is that there's male, female, and then there's the in between (or trans). Most people identify as either strictly male, or strictly female, but some people identify as trans, and there's nothing wrong with either of those things. But don't get your panties in a twist over it, it's not a big deal. If someone refers to you as the gender you don't identify with, then just politely and calmly ask them to call you by a different title. If you accidentally mistake someone's gender identity, and they politely ask for a different title, then be respectful and do as they ask. There's no need to be pushy about what you identify as, or what you think someone should be identified as. It would just make the world a slightly better place if we could all stop fretting over gender identity and move on to more important things.

people dont realize that personality characteristics =/= genders. just because youre a girl but youre into sports rather than the stereotypical dresses and pink clothing, that doesnt mean you identify as a boy, or identify as some made up gender. People are saying to respect these people and use the correct pronouns, but all that's doing is glorifying a mental illness. It's like calling someone who is anorexic "beautiful and healthy", but that just encourages their issue. The only exception i see with this are people who actually struggle with gender identity biologically(xxy chromosomes). I would just like to respectfully disagree with anyone who believes there are more to genders than boy and girl, and to anyone who thinks they can switch it up whenever they want; this is how I view it.

To all the people trying to poke holes in the gender description: this is an informative video. Its giving a dumbed down, simplistic explanation of different genders. of course someone's personality traits don't dictate their gender... only the person themselves can dictate their gender. But for people looking for more information (and not an argument) this video provides a basic idea of how non binary people identify. If you're still confused, there are a ton of resources online in which actual non binary people describe their experiences. and if you actually listen instead of arguing over something you can never personally understand and probably know nothing about, perhaps you'll learn something.

I want to start a serious discussion here, what's wrong with identifying people based solely on their sex parts (intersex included too) and letting identity/expression/orientation be their own separate entity. I see a lot of hate with identifying people as male or female and I don't see the problem with it. I understand people have identity issues and denying them their identity can be detrimental to their mental and physical health, but I wouldn't think it would be offensive if we just treated sex as a separate thing like hair color or height and allow people to identify and express however they like. Also thank you for not turning you're comments off because I've never been able to have this kind of discussion before. I'm here to learn and grow.

Thank you for acknowledging the biology of sex and the variations that exist as well. A very loud minority are trying to claim that sex itself is a social construct. I think it is for political reasons because if you equate sex to gender then the interpretations of many laws will change. Personally, I'm open to people expressing themselves however they feel. Gay, bi... be free. Be trans. Be what you feel you want to be. Whatever is healthiest for you. God knows there are many non heterosexual people trying to fit themselves into the hetero box... and that isn't healthy. The things l would add: Children are a serious case we need to be careful with. They can believe they are many things - like Superman or a fairy - but leave that behind through development. The rush to chemically alter children is a concern to me. Not because l think being trans is wrong, but because adults can't be sure that what a child expresses is something that is transient or permanent. Apart from that, I'm all in favour of anyone doing what they feel is right for them, or at least pursuing it. Think about how committed you would need to feel to your gender to change your body, life style... tell family, friends and workmates... That takes real balls, no matter what sex or gender you are. - an actual biologist

I have a few things that I’d like to mention - Bisexual means “attracted to two genders”, they just so happen to be commonly male+female - I haven’t seen much of this, but it is possible for a nonbinary person (or enby) to be straight/gay, it’s just slightly different than the normal definition For example, I identify as homoromantic (gay). But for me, it’s different than the normal definition. Instead of being attracted to males or females, I’m attracted to other enbies And, let’s say you’re nonbinary, but you feel more masculine/feminine. You could use the labels “nonbinary gay/lesbian” or “nonbinary straight” - Orientation is split into two categories: sexual, and romantic Sexual, sometimes referred to as sexuality, refers to something that is physical. You’re attracted to people who have a certain body, you want to have sex with them, etc. Romantic, refers to emotions/feelings. You’re attracted to a certain personality, you want someone that makes you feel a certain way, etc. Sexuality, and romantic orientation, are completely separate from each other, most people just so happen to usually have them “match” For example, I’m asexual homoromantic. Someone else can be bisexual homoromantic, etc. - Similar to bisexual, bigender means “feeling like you’re two genders”, people just usually feel male/female. For example, I’m bigender. However, I’m agender/demimale, not female/male - When referring to gender and sexual/romantic orientation, there’s a “demi”. However, it has a different meaning for the two Demigender means “not fully”. As in, you don’t fully identify as a gender (usually male ir female). Like, I mentioned in a previous point, that I’m demimale (along with agender). This means that I don’t fully identify as a male Demisexual/demiromantic means “not immediately”. As in, you feel a sexual/romantic attraction to someone, after a connection with them is formed. For example, I’m demiromantic. While I “can” think someone is cute, I don’t start developing romantic feelings for them, until after we’ve made a connection - There’s also QPP/QPR (aka “queer platonic pal”/“queer platonic relationship”), but I believe it has different means for each individual

I feel like the description of "sex" could be expanded upon a little- not only can physical characteristics betray genetic makeup, your genes aren't always strictly "xx" and "xy". There are several genetic disorders that result in "x", "xxy", "xxxy", so on and so forth. Here's a complete list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_chromosome_anomalies So the definition of "sex", even separated from gender, is not black-and-white. And this is hard biological science, not psychology. Hopefully this gives people a bit of context when considering the grey areas of self-identified gender.

Being “Feminine” or “ Masculine” should have nothing to do with your sex. They are just stereotypical roles society has gotten used to labeling things with. We shouldn’t even call behaviors feminine or masculine. Being a male is masculine and being a female is feminine. Your personality just makes you who you are. You don’t have to be a female to be emotional and passive and you don’t have to be a male to be aggressive, logical, and dominant. Calling behaviors, objects, ideas, etc feminine or masculine confuses people because it makes them think it’s weird to do those things if it doesn’t match their sex.

Gender is an amalgamation of several elements: chromosomes (those X’s and Y’s), anatomy (internal sex organs and external genitals), hormones (relative levels of testosterone and estrogen), psychology (self-defined gender identity), and culture (socially defined gender behaviors).

I’m probably an intersex. And I used to be Transgender.... I’m a 14-15 year old boy And I’ve always had a feminine personality. I’m definitely not your typical rough boy. And when I was younger I would ask my mom if I was girl because that’s just how I Felt.... I felt way to much like a girl than a boy. It’s also the reason why I’ve always been Able to socialise with the opposite gender more than my own. Now, I’m not gay, but People stereotype me as gay because I have a feminine personality, and it annoys me Because, a tomboy isn’t always stereotyped as lesbian, but when u get a guy doing Girly things he is considered gay. Now I’m not hating on gay but it’s kinda frustrating When people always stereotype u the first time u meet them. But I’m happy that I’m A boy, I wouldn’t change myself for the world, but I still do keep in contact with my feminine Side and that’s just who I am. 😁 Thx for the vid :)

Shank X it’s a good thing you don’t have to agree or disagree because it’s fact! You can’t just disagree with someone’s gender, it’s still an intrinsic part of their being.

Look gender wise I do not care about the pink for girls and blue for boys type of stuff you can dress and act how ever you want but lets say on a piece of identification you must wright down your sex you may feel like your a girl but physically your a boy the only time I can see that changing is if you are on hormones or have gone threw surgery. And with orientation I think straight bi and gay are the only 3 we need everything else makes it more complicated then it has to be. If you want to question me I am happy to have a discussion.

Yeah, I have to agree with Shank X as well. I believe there are two genders, male and female. Though I’m open to new ideas so long as there are real and scientific evidence of other genders that exist. Like transgender people, there’s proof that transgenderism is real and I believe that you need gender dysphoria to be trans. No disrespect, just throwing it out there.

Shank X While it is great to see that you’re more tolerant than most people, i will have to disagree with you on the fact of there only needing to be 3 sexual orientations. There are more than just those 3. This doesn’t make things more complicated, it actually makes things more simple, this diversity of sexual orientations give people a label that fits them more accordingly. While labels generally aren’t good, in the LGBT community, they help identify our gender, sexual orientation(s) and romantic attraction(s)

Just a question, why does everyone use blue for male and pink for female? Colours ≠ Gender (my thoughts)
@random.-person3 жыл бұрын
it actually used to be the opposite! It used to be pink for males and blue for females, and it was because of "Pink is a strong colour, perfect for the boy, while blue is a dainty colour, which is prettier for the girl"
@tomdobson93433 жыл бұрын
@@random.-person the reason why it changed is actually really dark it was because they used pink triangles to identify gay men in consentration camps in ww2 so society saw that as feminine

Wow, thank you SO MUCH for creating this! Society is STILL so ignorant on this topic and we need more straight-forward and simple explanations like this circulating on the internet. I live in NYC and even though this is a very open-minded city people by and large still expect that because I am a transgendered woman that I must want a female body and that "transitioning" always means taking hormones and getting surgery. I still have to educate my friends and acquaintances that my gender has NOTHING to do with my body and is simply a result of where I fall on the feminine to masculine scale in regards to my personality. Therefore, my pronoun preference also reflects my position on that scale. I am patient because I know they love me and it's simply because they have been taught otherwise and there is much confusion out there around this topic. Thank you again for cutting through the confusion with this content.

The absurd thing is when it comes to sports, people consider the gender of the participant. It should be obvious to anyone that sports are separated not by gender but by biological sex.
