Long time nerdfighters know the choice of giraffes and turtles at the start is not a coincidence. Love to see that some things never change. Don't forget to be awesome.

I feel sorry for newborn giraffes. They get dropped from that great height onto the ground and then amniotic fluid and the placenta gets dropped right onto them. Nice.
@drunkenskunkproductionsdsp80947 ай бұрын
And they have one of the shortest mating times with low success rates, like other ruminant animals. To top it all off, they're in nature's equivalent of city slums. Yikes.
@drunkenskunkproductionsdsp80947 ай бұрын
What's also bad is that giraffes, like other ruminants, have extremely short breeding times with low success rates, and they live in nature's equivalent of an active war zone.

Leaving a comment for the algorithm bc god knows KZbin gets annoying when talking about adult related topics. And sure, it’s about the biology of it all, but that doesn’t stop censors.

If i had a nickel each time a Complexly KZbin Channel made a video about Giraffe Love, I'd have more than 6 nickels. Which is a lot... But it's really weird it happened 6 times.

Fascinating video. Fun to watch and very educational. Thank you Dr. Sammy, you are doing a fabulous job. One thing though, why every time we talk about reproduction in biology, we have to put in some words about gender fluidity?...
@kikib.23447 ай бұрын
…..I mean he quite literally talked about animals that can change sex and contain both male and female reproductive organs depending on the circumstances/conditions of their environment. lmao the definition of gender fluid is essentially “identifying as male one day, and female the next day”. Which we have seen in the video.

The real question is whether or not it's easier for animals to get it on than humans in comparison.
@frodoadventure17 ай бұрын
Non-humans do not suffer through as much social stigma and religious brainwashing, so I assume non-humans have a much easier time of it.

Dear crash course for the past several months I've been having very short fainting episodes no longer than 7 seconds. So I was wondering if y'all could possibly make A video on that, possible causes etc. Everything I've heard does not add up to mine and this is really restricting me from doing what I love. I'm 16 and really enjoy your videos thank y'all. Sincerely ?

This is all very interesting and theoretical but you have to account for (1) what drives animals to reproduce. The basic answer is "instinct" which has never been explained. (2) do animals know what they are producing a next generation. When an elephant mates with a female, does he know that 1 year later the female will give birth to it's progeny? It could be many miles away. That's the great part of biology; you don't have to explain anything logically. You just observe it. And by the way, how did all this evolve....on it's own?
@MOSMASTERING7 ай бұрын
Sexual reproduction was a very early adaptation from basic asexual mitosis. Its a better way of sharing more DNA. Billions of years later, we have a diverse range of "doin' it"
