I think a wide range of people can agree that this particular strand of the Animal Rights Community (Which is despised my the rest of the Animal Rights Community) really does cross a line when they compare things like animal laboratory testing and the dairy industry (problematic as one may argue they may be) to the darkness of sexual assault. It's not even tone deaf or insensitive, it's almost sociopathic in it's disregard for nuance...

As much as I don't like testing on mice and rats this is tone deaf. But at the same time this is what I would expect from PETA at this point.

i’m a sexual harassment victim, & this just grinds my gears. do they really think it’s ok to compare our horrific experiences & trauma, even mental health issues, with RATS? I can’t believe this. I know they want us to stop the abuse, but this is too far. ugh.

I am all about getting rid of vivisection and treating lab animals better, but I also realize that, 1, we do need animal studies for some things, and, 2, abuse of lab animals is a different type of evil from sexual assault. It’s not the same thing. Like, yeah, both are bad, but they’re bad for different reasons and in different ways. And, from what I’m aware (not entirely sure, but pretty sure), non-human animals don’t really care about who’s watching if they’re doing the nasty. Well, okay, I suppose a rat might care about, say, a tiger watching over them, but they’d care if a tiger was watching them do anything, really.

I dont see y ppl r offended. I am a rape survivor but i see the messege here. Its saying that we wouldnt want wat we do to animals done to us. This is not offensive this is just a messege about how we would feel if we were abused and tested on like animals.

It's not for lack of understanding what they're getting at that bothers me, it's a massive lack of tact on PETA's part to make this comparison. The two situations (sexual assault and animal testing) are in no way comparable.
