Brother, there are two ways in Orthodoxy - marriage or monasticism. Celibacy is accepted in monasticism not among laymen. I don't think it's a sin though but definetly not a badge of honor. God bless

Good for you father for doubling down on this. We’ve been on a slippery slope for some time and the “slippery slope fallacy” is always at play with humans. The things happening now are beyond “the old magazine under the bed” but it started somewhere. We better listen to father Peter y’all. Once you start you also have to stop so best not start.

Please pray for me, I’m completely jaded of anything Christian. I’ve been to countless denominations, seeing horrible ridiculous things, and witnessed numerous peoples that call themselves Christian act worse and treat folks worse than non Christians would. I’ve watched literally every church I’ve attended continuously reaching for people’s pockets non stop while foaming at the mouth. I’ve heard hundreds of exaggerated testimonies and false healings. All of them business focused. I’ve literally for the past few days been watching deconstructing videos, and aithiest debates and I can agree with much of what I’ve heard. I’m literally scared to lose my faith in Jesus. If there are many people out there not saved I feel like most of these churches should be judged for it. Earlier today I stumble across a video on a man called st. Paisios and then another about my athos. Those videos gave me hope , and now im second guessing I for once seen something “Christian “ that seem to be authentic. Im still struggling with my beliefs and im just reaching out for prayer.

I feel for you, just in that you seem like a good person that is a little conflicted right now. I know exactly what you mean about the church trying to get at people’s pockets. Christians that simply don’t act like what a Christian is supposed to act like. They’re pretty easy to find. Every word of what I write here is said with in no hopes of ever gaining any funds or any kind of following at all. Remember that. You’re a good person that was born into Christianity. I don’t care what anyone on Earth tell you but there are good and bad people, born into anything. Nobody that simply finds a virgin birth hard to believe, us a bad man. I hope you can be real about it and try to be totally honest with yourself. The term “atheist” is rather vague in nowadays. What it truly means is, the belief that any belief at all, should come naturally through the verifiable truths that eventually will lead you to a conclusion. It’s by far the most logically driven reasoning that any human can have as an inhabitant of this “Earth.” If “God” is truly benevolent and full of love, would this entity choose to banish you to an eternity of hellfire? Simply for doubting his existence, due to the fact he’s never been able to properly introduce himself? Any God worthy of any devotion at all, would have a complete and full understanding as to why you lived a life in doubt. Any God worthy of praise, wouldn’t demand it. He’d actually have more respect for those that are honest in the fact that they do not know God. That they are unsure of whether or not he or she, or it, really exists. Take a look at the world and all of the atrocities that have been committed. Mainly by men that put the words in God’s mouth in order to manipulate and control them. Trying to “get in their pockets.” These are unfortunately the people any righteous “God” would take issue with. Why hate the atheists that had lived lives of peace and prosperity? People that never hurt anyone? Never raped or killed anyone? Put yourself in the mind of “God.” This entity, if worthy of respect, would not think that way. If God had ever truly existed, his words have either been either been misinterpreted or twisted in their translation? A God worthy of love, would judge a man merely on his idea of what a man should act like. What he did act like, even if he didn’t always get it right. The ones of us that do good in the world, without the fear of being judged in the eyes of God? We’re the ones that would find acceptance. As his peers. Him, a mentor. That would be the logical opinion of any God worthy of devotion. The ones that do good in fear of God would sure to be loved as well. It’s the true evil of the world that would have the issue. The ones forever putting words in God’s mouth? That’s would be a while different story. Don’t fear your way into a church brother. If a God actually exists, he’ll exist as the wind on your back as you journey through life. Please don’t take that phrase to literal if you happen to walk against the wind lol I think you can catch my drift. You don’t have to be born into faith to know right and wrong. I never needed to be commanded to know that it’s not okay to lie, cheat, steal etc. Stay true to yourself and remember that there should be no shame in knowing that you don’t know. Knowing and admitting the fact that none of us truly know what will happen when we cease to exist… That’s the first step. You’re intuition is screaming at you to follow logic rather than religion. Deep down, you already know the truth. Hopefully I only reintroduced you to it. Peace out.

We are tempted until our last breath. We can say the prayer of the heart. It is true we are currently surrounded by an intensely fallen world. When we have the gift of faith hope is not far behind. From hope comes love. We can keep trying throughout life. Many of the holy fathers have had the same experiences in the past that we are having today. I believe that my God is a merciful God. Love God and love one another.

One thing that people often forget about sexual perversion is that perversion occurs in incriments. So much so that past perversions dont even seem like perversions at all compared to more extreme perversions of the present. So, for example, as far as the mouth is concerned. It's the vessel by which we eat and receive God's body and blood. It is not a sexual thing. You might consider the obvious perverse acts that people do with this faculty. But this all started with accepting perverted kissing as a normal thing. This is a sin and only a means of stiring soul destroying passions. Keep your mouths taped if you have to! Spiritual warfare isn't overcome by excuses!

I forgot to say that my ex husband divorced me which idk where that leaves me spiritually and he is a Protestant pastor who literally broke me and more with a severe addiction to pornography!! We did counseling etc and he just didn’t care what it did to our marriage or me and the kids . He remarried super fast I have been single ever since and my hearts Biggest desire well one of them Was i wanted to know what a healthy relationship, a healthy marriage, both serving the Lord, etc. etc. Felt like. And I will remain celibate until or if the lord blesses me to be remarried and If and when that is to Happen I strive to put Jesus in that place and allowing this relationship with Christ to be so fulfilling because even though it gets lonely at times, I just remind myself, I don’t have to deal with somebody snoring somebody arguing with me blah blah blah Nino like Paul said lol no, I mean it’s still hurts desire, and I can’t help that I was divorced, but I just don’t know where that puts me in my allowed to be married again am I not allowed to be married again I know what the Bible says it’s not fair maybe it’s because I don’t understand that part where it says if a husband divorces his wife and she remarried and they’re all committing adultery or something like that my point is I’m just thankful and I work hard to allow Jesus to be the complete center of my life now, and to allow that to satisfy

I hope this helps you: I was civilly divorced and remarried before becoming Orthodox (by baptism and Chrismation) and told my Priest as a Catechumen about this. He nodded and told me that it wouldn't be held against me as I wasn't Orthodox (or really anything) and neither was my ex (he was actually a lapsed Mormon). We married in a civil chapel too. From what I understand, unlike with Roman Catholicism, Holy Orthodoxy does not hold what was done before becoming an Orthodox Christian against the person as baptism wipes one clean of all former transgressions. Essentially my former "marriage" was wiped away in the waters of baptism. It was just a secular contract, a civil union. No "annulment" needed (that was the turning point in RCIA for me, that huge hurdle which caused me to look harder at RCism and then away..but that's another story). My husband and I had our Crowning Ceremony in January 2022. It has brought our marriage to God with all the graces we didn't have before. Glory to God. ☦ May God one day give you a faithful Orthodox man if that is His will. 🙏 May God bless you. ☦

Your not alone. Pray for your misguided husband who abandoned his way. As I pray for the man I knew for 14yrs before marrying, 33yrs, still married but not together for 12. I've begged for a divorce but he holds back. I am a prisoner of a man who slid into delusion. A man I love but now my greatest enemy. I cried, screamed, and the Lord did not answer me until I cursed ever knowing him. Lord have mercy on my soul. I never knew this rage could be in me. I thanked God for showing me how evil I was in my weak state and said I love Dennis and revealed all the beauty I once knew was there in him. I laughed. He has not changed, he was suffering great things that he kept secret from me. His secrets found him out and he ran. Your husband is in delusion. Pray the Lord take your hurt and anger away and not let it back. Pray your husband be restored back to the truth of God and be ashamed. 12yrs I've prayed...12 more is good. The image of the man I married had the image of image of God I loved. Even if the devil distorts his image, I will not... I have hope that God knew this would occur and if God sees good can destroy evil... I want to witness this very thing be done to my enemy who I and the Lord loves more than I. Endure sweet lady. Pray, ask. You may never see it but God works miracles many never see. Trust God 🕊...💞...🕯

I still don't understand the lack of conviction from the Orthodox Church regarding the evils of contraception. My wife and I converted from Catholicism a few years back, and have been open to God's plan for our life, having 11 children in 15 years. It has been a hardship, but a blessing. I left Catholicism because I saw the image of God more clearly in Orthodoxy, yet I am dismayed at the lack of clear teaching on contraception and divorce. Among most Orthodox we have met, beside the handful of other couples committed to being open, we are nothing more than a strange oddity. Some have said we were being ascetic, as if only special people can do that, rather than it being the expectation of the Church.

sex is a very amazing gift from God. The problem in my opinion is how people in the church nurture their daughters to have huge expectations from men, making marriage nearly impossible. If marriage was much more accessible, then natural God given sex in marriage would be much more accessible then sexual immorality would be way less. Lets get real here. Sex is a very good thing in marriage and it's a very important need to fulfill. Women in the Church will tell their daughters they need to find a man that has a great reputation, rich, has a PHD, will buy a 50k ring, 100k wedding. Give me a break. Then these same women tell their daughters to wait til 30 to get married. What man in his right mind wants to marry a 30 year old? The best time for a woman to get pregnant is at 20 when she still has all her eggs. They tell their daughter she has to become an astronaut, win the nobel peace prize, have 10 years of work experience and then she can finally think about a husband. And the priests agree with the moms that say this! The priests encourage the moms into saying this!

Correct. The longer a woman waits she is also prone to giving up and becoming corrupted by the modern world. This obsession with money is nothing more than a byproduct of the liberal capitalist West. You have a lot new age viewing to the world, the so called manosphere, Tate view, Tateism, MGTOW, pursue success and riches at all times and at all cost. Now about women, yes it's true that most women and men today have unrealistic expectations, but that is because people have forgotten the gospel. It is possible for women to give birth at thirty, even at fourty. Genesis 21:1-3 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. Through prayer, it is possible, by the will of God.
