Our culture insists that true freedom is found when we get to express ourselves and follow our own desires. Scripture’s teaching on sex is seen as restrictive and outdated, and many people are even wanting to determine their own gender.
In this message from Colossians 4: 2-6 and other selected passages, David Platt points us to Scripture so that we can understand God’s good design for sexuality and gender. The One who created us not only has the authority to set the parameters for us, but also He has the wisdom to know what is best for us. As Christians, this is increasingly becoming a costly conviction. Nevertheless, we must believe and proclaim the truth--that true and lasting satisfaction can only be found in Jesus Christ.

As a Christian attending a public college in which many people are confused about this topic and hostile towards the Gospel because of it, it is very encouraging to hear a pastor I respect, such as David Platt, speaking with love, grace, and truth about this topic.

Thank you for this sermon, brother! I used to be apart of that community not long ago. Doing what I could to run away from God but inevitably I found out that there is no running away from him. I truly have found my greatest joy in experiencing reconciliation to God. And that is more then enough of a reason to Glorify him in every aspect of our lives! We truly have found our greatest need met in Christ.

What we want, we think, we feel is immaterial. What matters is what does The God of the Universe think and command? Our liking it is optional, our obedience is not. Thank you Rev Platt.

David, that had to be the hardest sermon you've ever given, I felt your pain watching. Thank you so much for tackling this subject so gracefully. I have a gay step-son that I love very much but have a hard time supporting the lifestyle knowing that it doesn't align with God's word. Thank you again. God Bless.

30:50 I have a question about what Mr. Platt said. He said all sexual thoughts outside of marriage is sin. Is it a sin when we're tempted? As a man, I can be out and about, in my room etc. And have a sexual thought form without trying. Is that wrong? Also is it wrong to be sexually attracted to a woman before I'm married? I thought that was a huge part of getting married?

Google Sucks Temptation is NOT sin. It only becomes sin when it is ‘acted out’.

Temptation is not sin. Even Jesus himself was tempted. I would encourage you to go read Luke 4:1-13. However I would encourage you to pray that God would help you navigate those temptations. Don't feel alone and your temptations either. There are plenty of men and women who face the same temptations as you.

I believe Mr. Platt was referring to Matthew 5:28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. We can have lustful thoughts pop in are head which are not yet sin, but if we even play those thoughts out in our mind and give into those thoughts even without taking the physical steps of those thoughts it's sin to us. That's why it says in the word to take every thought captive and bring it into the obedience of Christ. To have a thought of evil is not sin, it becomes sin when that thought is played out whether in are minds or in person.
