Van Steel I actually liked it the most out of the series. The setting is amazing, the world is unique the storyline and documentary style was so good. The repetitiveness of disrupting revenue was just so tedious but the main missions were very good, mafia 2 was good but when I played it again you realise the pacing issues, short story and nothing to do in free roam. I really loved how they had the balls to depict an accurate depiction of what society was like for black people then. Especially when a lot of people don’t like to face the truth.

Titles when you play as mobster as Tomy and Vito were and Lincoln Clay doesn't suit to be mobster of any kind. He is absolutly bad ass who cannot match absolutly any mobster what is obvious casue he is former spec ops soldier with Vietnam war tour but he dosent fi to game about Mafia and mobster.. I think whould be better if they make it as different Ip which could be connetced with Mafia universe but shouldn't be sell as next Mafia game

I've always been jealous that I don't have a cool accent like you LOL. I had high expectations from Mafia 3 as I've been a HUGE Mafia 2 fan since release day in 2010. However when it did release in 2016 I was let down by the repetitive nature of the game. Albeit the cutscenes at the end of the chapters were really amazing. I loved how they also implemented Vito into the game. Because I never gave it a chance after I rushed through the story - partially because I got bored of it but also was going through a weird time in life - I never got the full experience. I think a lot of fans can relate. Because in retrospect there's so many things about this game I never experienced but have seen in videos. Like secret areas, beta content, things like that. It is a shame that just like Mafia 2, Mafia 3 has so much unused content that never made it to the final release. That said, the soundtrack, atmosphere, and so much about Mafia 3 is very nostalgic to me. It takes me back to a time in October 2016 when I was going through what I though was a major health scare, beginning of a 2.5 year relationship with my now ex-girlfriend, and a time of change in my life as an 18 almost 19 year old dude. Looking back, I think it was an amazing game. I've always wanted to replay it, but for some reason because of the personal reasons I listed above. My mind associates this game with a weirdly, negatively, positive time in my life and it makes my stomach hurt thinking about it. Super weird I know. But that's the power of video games haha. I'm so excited to experience the new/old MAFIA. I played it way back in 2004 but as a 7 year old kid never got the full experience. I made it a couple missions in and never played it again and returned it to Blockbuster because it was too hard for me (that's what she said).

Honestly, I shamelessly adore this game. I bought it as the bundle with the other two mafia games and I just adore every piece of it. The story is so good. Classic revenge story and Lincoln is such a bad ass. I think Hangar 13 did a great job and I will continue to support the company. I just don't think the repetitive nature of the missions is really all that bad. You never have to complete every side mission to continue with the story so it gives you, the player, a lot of choice on how to proceed. You can vary things up or do the same thing over and over until you finish damaging rackets. Hangar 13 leaves so much to the player and just gives you the tools you need to complete every objective you choose. I think a lot of people just forgot how to make their own fun in games. They expect the game to tell them how to have fun rather than creatively seek out ways to make the game a blast. And I believe Mafia 3 really nails that player agency. You have so many choices. Sure you can do it all the same way every time but then why not just watch a movie or show? This is a truly open and well-made world with a lot of unscripted free-form missions. You can make your own fun and it's been a long time since I've had this much fun playing a video game.

@Willie Brazell While I can't deny that, maybe, some didn't like Lincoln was colored. I wouldn't say that is the reason entirely. The game says in the opening he isn't even African American. He's mixed. Something like Dominican and Italian. So he's technically still white, if that's true. He just has a darker skin tone. He identified as colored though because people were too ignorant to see the difference in the past and that's actually pretty realistic.
@piotrmackowiak96364 жыл бұрын
yes Lincoln is such a bad ass as any mobster coldn't be nor Tommy nor Vito, but Lincoln made me wonder is real Mafia game what I'm playing ??? And get story about bou who was fucked by mafia but he wasn't and could not be any mobster.
@rpglife72684 жыл бұрын
@@piotrmackowiak9636 Tommy and Vito were Italian so they had actual opportunity in the Mafia. They could be made men. Lincoln was considered colored and although he was in the black mob under Sammy, he could never be made. Because no one, I think not even he, considered himself Italian. Or even considered that he was. The only one who mentions he could be part italian is Father James and that was only speculation, really. Lincoln was still a badass tho. He had personality. The only protagonist that comes close is Tommy. Vito was pretty bland, although he was a hothead.

As a long time Mafia fan, I got this game right when it came out and way majorly disappointed. It just didn't feel like a Mafia game. I came back to it a couple years later in 2020 and fell in love with the setting and the story. Yes the mission structure is very repetitive and annoying, but the open world, the story, and characters were really well done. The level of detail in the world and how NPCs react to your actions is superb. Can't wait for the Mafia 1 remake.
@LHRStormKeeper4 жыл бұрын
A note about the stealth mechanics; imo, the main reason the stealth is so heavily focused on is exclusively because of the protagonist's backstory. He had fought in Vietnam, and only recently came back. It would make sense for a hardened soldier to approach things in a manner that was similar to what he experienced during wartime. I feel this is most heavily made apparent in the 'river' mission. The way the protag goes about his business in the ending minutes of that particular mission sort of play especially into his backstory's strengths. Sorry for being really vague, but I like avoiding spoilers. Those that have played the game more than halfway will likely know what I'm referring to, and those that haven't might decide to down the road. :P Edit: Typos, typos everywhere.

The only downfall i see is having only 1 save slot in general, the shooting, and the grind for territory (its overwhelming at first but repetitive overtime; even though i understand why they let u do it but they should of make more aspects on taking brackets and businesses on taking it) Look at the godfather games, especially 2. You walk into a business and it lets u 1 bring in one of your mafisco into the job of taking a bracket (bruiser is there to take out thugs as arson blow up the place. In godfather 2, it makes it fun on how you take over a business. Hell you can even take out your own family too. Great review, Roxy! I just played through the game myself and I still have one DLC to get through, the main story has been completed. The game definitely doesn't deserve the amount of hate that it gets. I agree that it gets repetitive after a while, but so does The Godfather: The Game when you have to take over and extort fronts and rackets, but here you actually have to earn your way through them. So that can sort of get annoying when you want to progress through the game. And the fact that missions are non-linear, it feels like there's little structure to it, but then at the same time it gives you the option to freeride but also to complete missions when you want to. I mean you barely even scratched the surface of this game and how awesome it really is. It really does immerse you in the late 60s and it's actually good for someone like me who wasn't born until the 80s, to understand that time period and the late that went on during those times. Even the KKK appears in the game. So it was a bold but right move on Hangar 13's part. It was history, it's how things took place. Not acknowledging it doesn't change the fact that it happened. I bought the Trilogy even though I already owned Mafia 2 which converted to Definitive Edition for free because I wanted to pre-order the new Mafia remake but also check out Mafia 3 since I felt that the new game style may sort of carry over to the remake. I've been avoiding Mafia 3 for so long but now I'm glad I played it. Yes, it certainly had some bugs and glitches, but overall it is a fun game! It's fun to get the armored truck from the Vehicle Delivery service provided by Burke and get it up to speed and start smashing into other cars. It's all a lot of fun. And anyone who doesn't like John Donovan...needs to get outta here!

I really liked this game, they tried something different there was definitely some tedious things but overall enjoyable game to play. I liked what they did with Mafia 2. They should do something in Mafia 4 and maybe use actual historical events with Gotti etc. Maybe hire Michael Franzese get some cool ideas

I remember that in Frankie Potts files Al Capone ,Lucky Luciano and Johnny Torrio were mentioned ,and the same with Capone in Mafia III and Mafia De,so yeah would cool see more historical characters, H13 did a great job with the historical context in Mafia III and De ,remember me AC but with the old America.

I really enjoyed the cars, driving and the music. Perfect setting for my liking. It’s just a shame that with all the repetitive missions, bugs and the poor performance on console

I played this when it first came out, years ago. Having never played mafia 1 or 2, I didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t hate this game, I just couldn’t finish it because the missions we’re soooo repetitive and I just found myself bored and had better games to play.
@fastony96592 жыл бұрын
I totally understand the repetitive content being a negative, and I don't want to apologize for Hanger 13 too much, but the thing is that the gameplay is so damn fun to play around with that.

Here it is 2022 and just playing and i love it to be honest. I don’t have any issues i see people talk about. It’s a lot of busy work, but that doesn’t bother me. Combat is too easy, but all the little story bits are great. Lincoln Clay is a great character to me

I really wish that the missions weren't so grindy and rinse and repeat, because literally every other aspect of this game is amazing! Mafia 3 has to have the best soundtrack of all time, the world is so immersive and perfect, and the story is truly great. I think that if the mission structure could have been re-done, you would truly have the best Mafia game and one of the best games of all time. If there is a Mafia 4, hopefully Hangar 13 will have learned its lesson and really do it right. With a 70s or 80s setting I think they could really make a great game, pull some inspiration from Goodfellas, and close out the franchise right.

Best dialogue in the series. The soundtrack is second to none. The plot makes you want to play more, and I like the weapons. The muscle cars are awesome to handle as well. We can't deny it was a massively buggy mess on release, though. It was nearly unplayable with all of the glitches and optimization issues. The other downside is that it feels more like an Ubisoft game.

I always really liked this game, I in no way deny that the mission structure was incredibly dull and repetitive but I love literally every other aspect of the game, the story, the voice acting, the music, the world and time period, and more. I also love mafia 1 and 2 , that goes without saying, their heavily story-driven campaign structure with a rich variety of mission types were amazing to play, however I feel that in regards to their open worlds, they are at a really large loss compared to Mafia 3. Outside the main campaign, you are left with a beautiful and interesting world... with nothing to do besides collectibles and secrets. I reckon if Hangar 13 were able to combine the structure of Mafia 1 and 2's campaigns in regards to their mission variety, and Mafia 3's open world with it's interactivity and additional content (Gang turfs, Racket control, etc.), we could see a really awesome Mafia 4 if we are lucky enough to get one.

How can people say an open world game with stupidly repetitive gameplay and a huge open world that lacks anything to do in, a good game? Clearing out the districts is some of the most monotonous gameplay I've experienced in years

Random fun fact- if a man like Lincoln Clay existed back then we wouldn't be in the situation we are in today in the US

Definitely not justified abunch losers dislike the fact you play as strong black man that mows down people who look like them and say the same kind of shit they say behind closed doors of course, as opposed to playing as a generic white man like most of them which is the go to for most game devs which makes sense from a fiscal perspective, Mafia 3 is a diamond in the rough.

I enjoyed Mafia III for what it was, although it's hard to shake the feeling of what it could've been...and I'm not talking major changes or anything, just small adjustments to the formula and some added features here and there. That being said, more than anything, it gave me hope that H13 would get the opportunity to do right by the franchise in the future, and I'm really hoping Mafia:DE can be that showcase of what the studio(s) are capable of, and that we can see this franchise continue on and on with many new entries which both tow the line of great narrative experiences, while also expanding some of the horizons to create a more fully-realized open world that stands in addition to the story; rather than being the extent of it like in Mafia III. For all it's fault, I still think it's one of the most artistically beautiful games ever made...New Bordeaux was stunning and felt authentic. Cars were fantastic (aside from broken sounds and the fact that we couldn't own/customize all cars in the game). The core mechanics were fantastic, in my mind, and really fit the character and setting to a T.

I for one enjoyed the smaller details too. The archway at 2:45 if I'm not mistaken has a detail showing it was in memorial for the black soldiers from the second world war. Edit: Another detail many probably missed was if you rob and kill a shop owner you can go back and see the police there investigating sometimes.

I played through this game last month. I ran into some bugs and had 2 crashes but at the end of my play through I was satisfied. I loved the mature revenge story, the voice acting, the cutscenes, the gameplay which made me feel like the punisher, I loved that they used his training in psychological warfare to allow for brutal kills. I absolutely adored the soundtrack I mean there’s seriously not one song in the game I don’t like, and like you said the, the details. I loved that in the low income or minority populated areas the police are slower to respond and the dispatcher has this “whatever” attitude whereas if you do something bad in a white or rich section of town they take you as seriously as a heart attack. I loved the driving and I actually think the vehicular combat felt right. Bottom line is yes, while the game is repetitive what game isn’t if you think about it, It’s a fun game.

It's the worst of the 3, but that doesn't make it a bad game. Mafia 1-2 were gems. Hard to beat. My only real issue with Mafia 3 was that it lost the identy and immersion of the first two. It was a great gangster game, but not necessarily a great Mafia game.

I really like the Meta game of mafia 3. It's not repetitive if you have lots of money to hire hit squads because you can take out an objective in seconds without doing much, it gets very intense and fast paced if you play that way. I like having to go into buildings to find health packs to save money to hire more hitsquads, it's a neat gameplay loop. If you play mafia 3 like an arcade game it really comes alive.

One thing I really like is that for the most part, the city feels like New Orleans, la, except for the hills, quarrys and the big ass boulders in the swamps. Even some of the accents are accurate, though some go way off. It's a small thing I know, but most media gets it so wrong that it's hard to watch from all the face palming.
