Seymour Duncan

Күн бұрын

Widely considered one of the best players in the modern metal scene, Wes Hauch’s reputation precedes him. Whether playing with The Faceless, Glass Casket, dropping a guest spot on Periphery II, or in Alluvial, Wes’ ferociously aggressive and immaculately clean playing cuts like a knife through the mix.
To facilitate the articulate and aggressive tones he’s known for, Wes requested a rails humbucker for 7-string with searing output and maximum clarity and balance. Built with dual stainless-steel rail poles, a ceramic magnet and a finely tuned high output wind developed closely with Wes, the result is the Jupiter for 7-string - a pickup that delivers aggressive mid-range focused attack, evenly balanced string response, and clarity. It won’t make you play like Wes, but it will help you cop his tone. All Jupiter humbuckers come with a 500k Seymour Duncan potentiometer - Wes’ preferred pot - and the first 150 pickups will be signed by Wes and the team who worked on the project.

1:34-2:12 We need more explanations of pickups like this. Very detailed, citing frequency ranges and what kinds of chords do and don't work, and for what reason. This guy put in his research developing these pickups, and I don't feel like I can say that for every artist whose pickups I've tried.

It's really about time that Wes finally got a signature pickup! Dude is one of the best guitarists of the past twenty years. It's not even just his ability that gives him that so much as his creativity and versatility. Check out his demo of the Seymour Duncan Black Winter neck pickup of Keith Merrow's Channel. To anybody who'd post "who is this guy" or "he's a nobody", you are either ignorant of the metal scene or just ignorant all together. Wes is not a commercial metalist. You've got to understand the incredible talent that he has. He is among one of the best to ever play, super clean and tight playing with unorthodox patterns. He's there with Jeff Loomis, Keith Merrow and Ola Englund. I'd rank them Loomis, Hauch, Merrow then Englund. Just my opinion. Check out all their stuff, including their bands, if you're a metalhead you won't be disappointed. As for this pickup, probably gonna be a great one, chords and notes shine through the distortion and has huge chunk and great harmonics.

Is it just me, or does this sound alot like a 7-string Invader? I know alot of people hate them, but since I heard Karl Sanders of Nile call the Invader "Nile tone in a box", I bought one and put it in my Soloist that had the worst pickups in it out of the 3 I own. It is now my favorite guitar. The mid-range bite might not be for everyone, but I'd rather have a pickup with too much of something than a pickup with not enough. You can turn down the mids on your amp if they're too prominent, but you can't turn up what's not there in a scooped sounding pickup like the EMG 81. One of the most horrible rhythm tones I've ever "accomplished" was an 81 with the mids pushed. They just sound way too dry and almost nasal in the mids, in addition to the extra noise that trying to boost a frequency that's not there will get you.
@wabisabi6802
@wabisabi6802 5 жыл бұрын
Yup. If you boost a frequency, you also boost the noise so it's better to cut.
@GuitarIv69
@GuitarIv69 5 жыл бұрын
The 81 is not scooped. At least not from my observation. It might be lacking low mids but the high mids (the thing you perceive as nasal) are very prominent. I found it thin and very tinny sounding on it's own but once the band kicks in, you get the bass drum and the bass player to fill out the low end and the low mids and it suddenly sits very well in a mix. I have to yet find a passive that is as tight and fast tracking in the lows as the 81

I've seen bell-brass frets on Warwicks, but I've never seen frets with a gold/yellow sheen to them like that while still being essentially silver in color. It just looks like titanium to me, but I very much doubt that's what it is lol. Titanium is great for turbine blades in jet-engines and power-turbines, but not so great against metal-on-metal abrasion.

I love that he made one of the only good 7 string rail pups and everyone is asking for it in a 6 string format HAHA I'm sure there are plenty 6 string rail pickups that have similar tone

I still use the Bill Lawrence L500, Like them better than the Dimebucker, hopefully the Jupiter serves.

Maybe you would have to be in the room to hear a difference but these sound like the Pegasus/Black Winter pickups...

Don't think that if you buy those pickups you are going to sound like this hahaha. You also need a pro recording studio, a perfectly setup guitar, processor, miss, amps, and most of all you'll need to become Wes Hauch. I'm sure these pickups are fine though. It's 90% in the hands.

eddie julian honestly, I’ve gotten a really professional sounding tone using a Randall RG80, a Zoom G1XON Processor, and a Bugera 2x12 cabinet. It took some work, but I love the end result that came out of my effort.
