I didn't mean to sound like I was diminishing Wes's skills. He just wasn't succeeding at copping Dime's feel, if that was what he was trying for here. It was technically very clean and accurate. Just didn't have Dime's swagger.

Thank you Keith Merrow and anyone else involved in this great presentation. This video is such a solid representation of Dimes choice of gear and a even more solid reminder of the vast wealth of the music he played. So inspirational and proof that as long as we keep sharing and showcasing the obvious love he had for his gear and what that gear really meant to his sound, Dime stays alive and we need this. I'll turn 43 this year and videos like this make me feel so good because I was the one of so many who absolutely loved the music of Pantera and Dimes playing meant the world to me then and still does today.

Prenner111 you must be drunk... Wes toured with the faceless, playing pantera is a piece of cake compared to that.
@givemeajackson
@givemeajackson 9 жыл бұрын
Prenner111 never said anything about about better. but the material is way harder without any shadow of a doubt. if you doubt it you're not a guitarist and have no idea what you're talking about. i can play pretty much any pantera song easily, but i struggle with many songs of the faceless. wes here didin't break a sweat when he was with them, his technique is second to none. dime was great, no doubt about it, but his greatness lays with composition, groove and originality, not with technique. there's probably no guitarist that can create the same vibe as dime did, but there's tons of guitarists who can play stuff dime never could have pulled off. now that we got the facts out of the way, work on your attitude. also, yes, seven strings are very cool if used right.

RNA MUSIC Washburn Dime guitars were so much better than the Dean ones....
@RNAMusic
@RNAMusic 9 жыл бұрын
Cahyo Amiseso Dime started with Dean Guitars. At the time Pantera started hitting it big around Cowboys from Hell, Dean Guitars was essentially not doing much of anything. . Dime said he would have to hunt the pawn shops to find Dean MLs. You couldn't get them in stores, according to dime. Washburn stepped in and Built the Dime3 shape for Him and he was a Washburn Endorser for about 10 years. At the height of Pantera's success he was only playing the Washburn guitars. It was only shortly before his tragic passing that he had returned to Dean and signed an endorsement deal with them. I will disagree with INF1D3L010 that Deans are/were superior. I've played cheapo Dean Dimes that are crap, and Washburn also put out some crap ones. Dime didn't play any of the cheap ones. He had USA Deans first, in the early days, then USA Washburn Custom Shop DIME3 guitars. EVERY company will put out crap guitars at a certain price point.Once you get into the $600+ range and higher, they are all about the same really in terms of build quality generally speaking. Having played both Custom Shop Washburns and USA deans, the Custom Shop Washys are certainly nicer. Truth be told if you are playing a $700 Dean, or LTD, or Schecter, or Washburn or PRS SE or DBZ DIamond .........they are all built by the same people at the same factories. In fact the cheap ones from most companies are all built under the same factory roofs by the same workers.

The washburns were always better, I don't care what happened to dean. They looked better, played better, and came in much more unique flavors. It didn't get any better than that for Dime. That's why they were their best in the mid 90s. Trendkill Kills and that's all Washburn
@Deathlycream
@Deathlycream 8 жыл бұрын
+OmniscientVirtuosity I had a wasburn Dime 2st, like, the low price dime the guitar was quite good but the bridge oh my ... a true shit. There was nothing to prevent the string from moving and the guitar was always out of tune whatever you would do it was totally useless

Pedro Reis Dime didn't even used that amp. Lmao he used Randall as we all know. Crank that up, scoop mids as per required and chunk that tone out. That's Dime's tone.
@silverbane5008
@silverbane5008 7 жыл бұрын
+Yoshiki G except, thats not how you actually get the dimetone at all. At least not all of it. You're not even close to dime until you get an EQ pedal in front of the amp, boosting mids. Also, get a noise gate, that shit is feedbacking like hell. For proper dime tone you also need a parametric eq before the graphic eq to tame some of the frequencies.
