I had the Nazgül/Sentient pickups in a Jackson 7 string I sold to a good friend of mine. Looking back I really enjoyed the midrange character that the Nazgül had, and if I knew back then how to get a proper, usable Rhythm tone in a practical practice environment, I would’ve bought another set for one of my current guitars sooner. That and I’m obsessed with what Fishman is doing with the Fluence line.

I use fluence pickups now (modern ones) on my 8 string and I really want to swap em on Nazgul ASAP. Too honky and midrange for a low djenty tone and you can't even fix it with EQ. Too much resonances in midrange that are just killing the tone on low strings. Everything that is higher than B is good but not lower for sure.
@Stretchwreckedem4692 жыл бұрын
@@7AKV7 have you tried using an amplifier or even amp model based off of anything like a Dual Rec or a similar amplifier with more naturally scooped mids? I've always found that those pickups work best in those kind of amps, as well as maybe tightening things up with something along the lines of an SD-1 on voice 1 to tighten things up for lower tunings. That, or i'd just put a graphic eq in front of my amp or amp model and cut any of the frequencies closest to 160hz and slightly boost the frequencies closest to 800hz depending on which graphic eq pedal you're using. If it's something you haven't tried, it's definitely worth a shot.

I was also going to buy a set a bareknuckle nailbomb cold sweat and then decided to go with the nazgul sentient set. Cause getting the bareknuckles would of been over $300 us just to get them and have them installed. Plus keith Merrow voiced the nazgul so you cant go wrong with merrow involved.
