I have used one of these they work well down to nine foot for me but got tired of tripping in and out of the hole. Nice video good explanation. Easy on the back lol!

In what kind of soil have you used it?

The T-Posts will drive in like butter after a good rainy day. I've got the red clay soil also. I've slowed down for the summer working on my fence line. That sun just seams hotter than usual.

I've worn out three post hole diggers and one body...mine.

I can see how after 3 PHDs the body may resent it. I really need to rent a cat with an auger.

Wow! 3 PHD's! And they say country folks aren't educated.

I'm sure twisting it is where the most people is feeling pain, my plan would be to replace the wood dowl with a steel bar that has achors on the ends that would allow the electric winch on my atv to do most of the labor of pulling it around

Great video thanks for sharing! I have the same Seymour Auger and was wondering if you'd be so kind as to tell me where you sourced the extension bar and couplers?
@LibertyGarden4 жыл бұрын
Home Depot it's just regular threaded plumber's pipe.

@@LibertyGarden Thank you! I happened by Lowes the same day and found them. I looked up the Seymour factory extensions (5 of them) on-line and they wanted $52.59 each w/couplers for the same thing Lowes sold me for $15.45 each x5 plus $9.92 for the couplers. That saved me $242.98. I guess the online reviewer who called it a scam wasn't shittin' lol. Thanks again!

@@moto1p1 Five extensions? How deep are you going? Are you trying to dig a well?
@moto1p14 жыл бұрын
@@LibertyGarden Yeah, I'm going to give a try. It's for a little off grid place I have. The way things are going it's looking more and more like I made the right decision acquiring it. I just hope it's not any deeper than 25-30.ft.

I know I've asked this before, but what part of Texas are you in?
@LibertyGarden6 жыл бұрын
Delta county. You're finally moving over here?
@joeprimal20446 жыл бұрын
We're getting closer. Working towards getting the farm up for sale in the spring. We're going to do a recon trip to Texas as soon as the almond harvest is complete. Probably in a month or two. We're trying to decide on where to look and it's tough. Texas is a big place. Property taxes vary so much from county to county. Sometimes we'll find a promising looking place only to find they have a 2% property tax rate or the nearby town has an off the charts crime rate and is 90% black which means we probably wouldn't fit in. Important for me is I want to be 3 hours or less from an ocean harbor where I can go fishing or sailing. That gets a little challenging because for it's size, Texas has a surprising lack of harbors with private boat docks, and even fewer with the depth to handle decent sized sailboats. The wife is dead set on Texas. She was there a few months ago helping my son move to Houston and fell in love with the place. I'm reluctant because I've had enough of heat. Another place under consideration is south Oregon. But that really not much different from California these days in terms of crazy regulations. So I don't know. Much to consider. One thing's for sure, I've got to get out of here.

I’d say that 2% tax is on the low end. Most places are 2.5 to 3%. From where I’m, Galveston is 5.5 hours (340 miles) away. Every place in Texas will be hot. Houston will be hot and very humid, but winters are very mild. I’ve lived in Houston before. Traffic is shit, but the city is nice for a night on the town. So if you can find a nice, quiet plot outside the city you should be good. If you want to look at properties around my area I can take you or scout a couple nearby. Where my farm is, it’s quiet and low crime and very boring.

Small rocks, no problem. Big rocks, you'll need a breaker.
