I've been playing guitar for what, 13 years. Tommy Emmanuel is the only player who really got me to sit down, break a song down and practice, practice, practice. I've always half-assed my way and hoped that one day it'll sound OK. Now I want it to sound amazing and I'm willing to put one hour every day into just practicing one bar of a song, over and over again.

This might be the best video I could show to a new beginner in anything. I neard to keep telling myself that even after playing guitar for 20 years. Everyone has things to learn. It takes practice. Slow it down. Once the skill is second nature then youe can play with the muscality of it.

My dad was in the Philadelphia Orchestra. He used to say “the secret to fast is in slow,” and “fast is the same as slow, only quicker.”

Outstanding. One small thing he says near the end is also ultra important...make sure you study what it is you're learning! Look at the construction of each chord you play, the overall harmony of the song, and then you can use it in another form in other stuff you play.
