lemme just clear something up. the corner double crossup i used in round 3, was in fact, brand new, at that time. I discovered that trick a week before evo and kept it secret til then. no one on srk knew about it. its bs if people think that setup is old, cuz it wasn't. the other stuff was week 1 shit, everyone knew it. i just had it all spaced just right that night to make it harder to see.

@Charles Brown i didn't. Monitor was laggy, so I did not have faith in linking s.lk into heavy dp. So I went for s.lk into ex tatsu. If my s.lk combos, all good. If not, my blocked ex tatsu keeps me safe. Unfortunately that blocked s.lk did not build enough meter so it gave me mk tatsu instead. Still safe on block, but valle was going for an interruption. He clearly wanted dp into super, mashed a little too early so only super registered. Rest is history

Gr8 moment, Sakura's juggle reset confused the hell out of Valle. Great performance by Sabre the setup is really risky against Ryu but he took the risk.

its a double crossup trick. It doesn't work well on the female cast(as i learned vs marn afterwards). after the ex hk, you do a j.rh, late in your jump. By the time you hit with j.rh, you are already on the other side of opponent. I land before the opponent and i can choose which side i want to be on. The setup was only a few days old and evo was the first time i unleashed it to the public. Luckily, i had the timing down on shotos with it. It's different timing based on the character

just to iterate, the super wasn't spammed. Valle was going for a reversal DP xx Super. He was banking on the chance that i would NOT combo s.short after the short hurricane kick. if you look earlier in the match, he tries to DP after short hk each time. Had i not comboed that s.short, I would have lost the match. I wasn't terribly confident in my linking abilities since the tv on the stage lagged a little bit.

the tv on the stage was different than the asus gaming monitors that were used on all the other stations. those were lagless. the tv wasnt bad. but it was there enough to throw off tight links.

sigh, you dont understand whats going on im afraid. he doesnt get a dp cuz i COMBOED the s.short. . he was going for a reversal dp after the short hurricane kick, looking for the gap where i have to do a strictly timed link combo. i comboed the s.short(where he was trying to dp and hoping i would fail the link so he could get the free counter), so obviously he never got dp, and its too fast to react to whether or not it came out and stop yourself from doing the super motion followup.

The thing is, with that reset game, it's PURE guesswork for Valle. He was either a) extremely unlucky or b) read by Sabre like a book.

s.short into rh hurricane kick rarely combos at that range. the first hit of the hk has to connect. i knew that the hk wouldnt combo, i just want to make sure i stayed in his face and keep the pressure on. plus due to the tv and what happened vs gootecks beforehand, i was not confident in doing short hk, s.short, fierce dp. The hk was a much safer option, Plus I was hoping for the s.short to give me enough meter to do ex hk instead.(i hit forward+rh buttons at the same time), so i got rh hk

@azn80149 Of course, resets aren't combos so you just have to guess right and block correctly, or reversal with an invincible startup move. In SF4 resets are harder to trick people with, because of the game speed.

also, to add. he didnt dp cuz hes not a spaz. dp doesnt always work. is it risky for sakura? of course. but the scrubby auto correction dp crap in this game doesnt always work. also, the corner crossup trick was unknown to everyone. i came up with that trick a week before evo, and that was the first time unleashed on anyone. and that mixup is very hard to get dp's on. alex thought it was better idea to guess right blocking and regain his superior spacing game. but he guessed wrong

its the mix up, he has an option of a cross up, clk, grab, a juggle and the chance of dashing under the other player for a cross up that way, so it just got in his mind and messed him up really.

ok. do this. google search "sabre vs valle ustream" and check out the ustream evo stream footage of the match. you can clearly see valle precisely doing every move. theres no mashing. hes just reading me correct and punishing any holes i have in my gameplan. maybe where you are from, mashing dp's is common and people get away with it all the time, but at high levels, precision, timing and cold calculations is needed.

SaBre's gameplan was very risky as well though. SaBre could have gotten SRK reversal'd into oblivion if he was unlucky. Those resets can be a real gamble.

on that final round i'm kinda curious as to why sakura's j.rh crossed up once, but didn't cross up the other three times, it doesn't look like you walked forward or had any better positioning than the other times.

it wasnt a mash, any pro player knew exactly what he was going for. unfortunately for him, my s.short comboed. i already explained the situation on why it wasnt a mash. if you watch the entire match, you can see his gameplan after every short hk, the matrix one was no different. any pro can see that. not a mash at all

lol you cant mixup blanka, no matter what side you go to, your reversal is always d,u+kk. there is no guess work on your behalf. so its pretty obvious why you cant do it to him. again, hes not mashing dp. he literally dp'ed after every short hk i did. some times he won, sometimes he traded, sometimes my s.short beat it. as for the dp at :28, he just predicted a hole in my poke(most pokes are unsafe in sf4 due to short blockstun). valle doesnt mash shit, to say he does is rather insulting

Nope, they just guessed the correct side, if they are incorrect with which guess you will land on, then a light medium or fierce punch will come out instead, which are beaten by Sakura's lk. Also, Its best to buffer a throw break into your lk as they are coming down, as in hold down and press lk + lp.

He can't get DP's out when she does here mixups. Even if you mash EX dp's. Sabre times his links with no errors. The Sakura chain is blockable, you just need to guess right and just trying to DP out of it is a scrub move for serious.
