Man this video is exactly what I needed. I’m in D3 with Chun right now and I’ve been feeling like she has really confusing Oki compared to say Ryu or Cammy but this helps clear it up.

How to tell if timing correctly in training? Is it by setting CPU to wake up jab?
@raidhyn6 ай бұрын
Yeah have them wake up jab, wake up jump if you want to practice non counter hit versions. Wake up throw if you want to practice a shimmy variant.

I'm embarrassed to admit I hit 1600 MR withot knowing Chun had an autotimed DR low option after M SBK. I've been timing those manually this whole time, often to my downfall 💀 I ALSO didn't know that she gets fireball traps off forward throw and OD Tensho, that's so crazy. 1700 here I come I guess lmao

What is better to have oki or have a safe jump?
@durian77173 ай бұрын
As nobody else has commented yet, it's situational. Safe jumps are useless against characters without a meterless reversal (and meter) and against players who don't show they're willing to use a reversal. I'm not good at Chun-li specific, but usually your oki is straight up better if you've a safe jump as even the enemy blocks, you're very plus in your face. However, with Chun-li the drive rush overhead is much more reactable and that's the only thing you're missing out on. If there's some other tool I'm missing out on, please correct me mr. KZbinr.
@durian77173 ай бұрын
ALSO if the opponent can use a meter reversal (ie a level three super) to escape and you're a round up, it's completely fine to eat the wakeup super as you'll still have meter even if you lose. Same goes with a character who needs to burn themselves out with an OD/drive reversal and if you've the health to spare.
@verbatim75083 ай бұрын
@@durian7717 I definitely wouldn't say safe jumps are useless against opponents who don't or can't use an OD reversal... As you mentioned, if opponent blocks, you get mad plus frames. If your opponent tries to perfect parry, I can read that and go for an empty jump grab. Empty jump lows are also an option if my opponent has a propensity to block high. Lastly, if they're sure I'll go for an empty jump, they can try to OD reversal-and the cycle continues. The point of safe jumps isn't necessarily to bait reversals-because anyone with decent game knowledge isn't gonna try to reversal your safe jump. The point is more so to keep your opponent on the ropes. The thing you have to keep in mind with Chun is that her most common safe jump setups only work consistently in the corner (as far as I'm aware), because of back rising. Therefore, at midscreen, it's better to double dash after these setups because this covers both wakeup options.
