I feel like they really have to be careful buffing zangief up. Gief is missing some tools that would make him easier for people who are not as good to use him, but buffing him puts those same tools in the hands of monsters like itazan and snake eyez.

​​@@thomasromano9239- Impossible to talk up Gief as "A tier". Having high damage output does not mean a great character. He will always struggle against high pressure and zoners. His only option to get out of the corner is perfect parry or drive reversal, once you get stuck there you're in trouble, as we can evidently see with Itazan. But I agree, buffs have to be careful not to break things for the worst. I really don't see how giving his lariat a hit on cross ups would make him broken, and maybe armour on his legs as well as his upper half when charging high punch. The charge high punch can be DI'd anyway fairly easy at the right range. It's only logical that a lariat should connect both sides. The non existent hitbox just makes no sense. Other than that I think he's fine as he is. I'm nearly diamond but finding some matches tough now. I either win comfortably or get smashed. I love playing him regardless, it's so much fun planting people's heads in the ground! 😆

@@jamessm4401 - Lol, it's technically not really a spinning lariat in terms normal physics. Only in videogame world would this flipping thing whiff!! Had they just called it a clothesline anti air would have made more sense!

@@thomasromano9239 - It's funny you should mention that reel-in light SPD, I've been practicing that more over the last few days and it is very effective. Still requires fairly precise timing but you're right, it works. This game is jump heavy though remember, players constantly neutral jump Gief and Manon to avoid such an interaction. I'm assuming this why Itazan doesn't use it too much as like with anything in this game, spamming the same thing over and over is dangerous. And SPD whiff is hugely costly against opponents that know punish optimisation. Good advice though, I like it. Anyway, Gief is so much fun and I enjoy speaking with other Gief mains! Thanks man!

He has a huge history of this, though. I’m not surprised. Alpha 3, he played Akuma until meeting Alex Valle, and then was inspired to play Ryu. SFIII Third Strike, he also played Ken, there, as Ken was more or less the only viable Shoto, in that game. SFIV when Yun was broken he switched to Yun, and then to Evil Ryu. SFV, Ryu was trash after Season 1, and then he was Guile all the way. Daigo is a tier wh0re, ever since, I’m not surprised. He also played mostly Boxer in ST. Switching only to Ryu for bad matchups. In HD Remix, he was a Guile Player. He also played Ken in CVS2. He’s never been a Ryu faithful, although people associate him with Ryu.

To be fair, in an interview he tested both characters and said that Ken's entire kit outshines Ryu's for tourney purposes which is why Ken is considered S+ for top players while Ryu is ranked at the middle. Capcom should at least fix this guy to make him on par with Ken

Why is itazan not blocking? Also, why do they make Zangief retreat full screen after his special? It seems almost unfair to force him to lose all his pressure and fall that far back when he's the slowest dasher.

So what. Capcom take his opinion seriously, as they do with Sako and Tokido. If they were fools then the developers wouldn't care what they had to say. People like him because he's a decent guy and not arrogant or egotistical.
