Trent Park, 17, is a student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College, where he studies guitar with Scott Cmiel and has completed the highest level of the music theory curriculum. In October 2023, Trent performed in Maestro Manuel Barrueco’s “Pre-College Guitar Virtuosos” master class. He has also participated master classes with Judicaël Perroy, Meng Su, Ben Verdery, and Jason Vieaux. Additionally, Trent has completed Level 8 of the MTAC Certificate of Merit program in piano. In his sophomore year, Trent received a score of 5 in AP Music Theory, as well as AP Calculus BC. He attends Proof School.
Emilia Díaz Delgado, 15, studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College with Meng Su and Scott Cmiel and has also studied with David Tanenbaum and Igor Avila Soria. Emilia has performed for Omni Concerts, the South Bay Guitar Society, Austin Classical Guitar, and NPR’s From The Top. She has received awards from the Guitar Foundation of America and the James Stroud Guitar Competition. Emilia is also a filmmaker whose work has been screened at festivals in the U.S., Brazil, Beijing, Paris, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, and Costa Rica. Emilia enjoys studying Music History and Renaissance counterpoint. She is currently reading Richard Taruskin’s Oxford History of Music and the New Grove Dictionary of Music.
Kiran Lee, 17, is a prizewinner in the 2024 Philadelphia Classical Guitar Competition and the 2023 Chicago Guitar Festival Competition and the First Prize winner of the 2022 Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival Youth Competition and the 2022 U.S. International Open Music Competition. She was a semifinalist in the 2024 James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition and was one of six performers invited to the 2023 Pre-College Guitar Virtuosos master class with Manuel Barrueco. Kiran opened concerts for Stephanie Jones and Gaëlle Solal at the South Bay Guitar Society. She is a student of Scott Cmiel at the Pre-College Division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she also plays in the honors guitar quartet and the guitar orchestra. Her first teacher was Patrick O'Connell of the Silicon Valley Classical Guitar School. Kiran has played in masterclasses for Sergio Assad, David Russell, Meng Su, David Tanenbaum, Marc Teicholz, Ben Verdery, and Jason Vieaux. Kiran is a junior at Palo Alto High School and volunteers at the local Pets In Need animal shelter. Kiran plays a guitar built in 2022 by German luthier Dieter Müller.
Roan Holmes, 17, studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Scott Cmiel at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Precollege and has previously worked with Dr. David Chapman. Roan has won awards at the Stanislaus State University Guitarraganza Competition, the Bay Area Creative Youth Awards, and the Guitar Society of Montreal Next Generation Guitar Competition and the ENKOR International Music Competition. He is a senior in high school at The Athenian School and lives in Livermore CA. When not playing guitar, Roan is a competitive runner in cross country and track.
The San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College has earned a national reputation for providing outstanding musical training to young people. The early childhood program, for students as young as age 4, taps the natural desire for movement, that all children possess, to impart a deep responsiveness to music. As students gain experience, the curriculum integrates private lessons with small chamber music groups, a guitar orchestra, musicianship courses, weekly performance opportunities, and master classes with the guitar worlds finest international artists.
Scott Cmiel is a recipient of Artist Teacher Awards from the American String Teachers Association of California, the Romero Guitar Institute, and the Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival,and is widely acclaimed as an inspirational instructor of students with exceptional artistic achievements. His students have won top awards in national and international competitions including the American String Teachers Association National Soloist Competition, the Guitar Foundation of America International Youth Competition, the Christopher Parkening International Youth Competition, the James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition and the YoungArts Competition. They have often been featured on radio and television including the national public radio showcase From the Top and the GRAMMY Awards.
