this used to be a vibrant amazing place to go. when i went back in 2022 it had changed so much and the stores that i knew were gone. even more restaurants have closed including izumiya, which was a favorite and only place i know of where you can get a good okonomiyaki.

I went to japantown in San Francisco last Saturday it is like a damn ghost town I hardly see nobody tourist doing some shopping or eating at a restaurant

SF is no longer tourist spot It's not just Japantown Last time when I was there litrally just homeless ppl and litrally unsafe

SF Japantown is tiny. Some stores are Korean. And several vendors have closed over the years, so it has fewer options than in the past.
