Will a standard 4l80e converter work or are the longcrank convertors different too? I have the stock 4l80e that came with the longcrank engine and need to order a stall. I ordered the flex plate you reviewed in this video. I know this is an older video, but if you could give me some insight that would be awesome. Nothing but conflicting info online...

My lq4 came out of an 04 van with a 4l80....it has a spacer from the factory bolted to the crank flange....im putting it into a 71 chevelle....which 4l60 is the correct one for my engine?....the 4l80 in the van was bad which is why I'm not using it instead of a 4l60e....plus the 4l60 doesn't require me to have another new drive shaft made for my chevelle.
@WestcoastWrenchin4 жыл бұрын
I would really push to get a 4l80e, its worth the upgrade I assure you. Remember that your 4l60e is essentially a 700r4. With regard to your situation you had a spacer bolted to the crank because the 4l80e is setup with the same spacing as a traditional sbc. The reason your engine had the spacer is because you have a common ls short crank shaft (not the oddball long crank 99 like mine). You want want a 60e which was bolted up to an ls engine. You'd want something 2002 and newer.

@@WestcoastWrenchin OK cool...thanks for the info....as for the 4l80 it's gonna have to wait...i just now purchased my stand alone harness for a 4l60e ....plus i just had a new drive shaft built two years ago for the th350 that I used run....the 4l60 and th350 are the same length so I still use my new drive shaft for now until I can afford to do the full 4l80 conversion....right now I'm just trying to get my ls swap finished and my chevelle back on the road....ive had it apart way longer than I wanted too....this. Is my first swap and Amway over budget as it is....plus I'm also repainting my car at the same time...once I get it all back together and finished then I will have the money and time to address a few corners I cut and replace or buy the things I couldn't afford at the time ....or that had to wait while I was saving up to purchase other things....im sure you been there yourself at some point...sometimeswe must make comprimises in one area to do things the right way in another area.

Would this Flexplate work with the long crank 6.0 and a 2003 4l65?
@BadLuckGarage3 жыл бұрын
No, this flexplate is drilled for either a 10.75" or 11.50" torque converter bolt pattern so a standard 11.07" 4L60/65/70 bolt pattern will not work. The converter snout will also be too long. You will need a custom converter built to attach a 4L60/65/70e transmission to a long crank 6.0/4.8 engine.
