Not sure because Infinite has the Phantom Ruby prototype, the only way to fight against his own power is if someone also possess the phantom ruby, So no matter how much power you have, Infinite will always triumph with virtual realities. And just to clearify this even if i like Infinite i'm not saying in fanboyish way, i'm realistic and i am speaking in comparasion of their powers, Mephiles has power with shadows and space time manipulation, but Infinite, empowered with the phantom ruby prototype, has power of spatial manipulation and virtual realities, with this power, no matter what he creates no one can escape without having the phantom ruby against Infinite.

Technically, Infinite has the original Phantom Ruby, what the Hero used in Sonic Forces was a Prototype Phantom Ruby that was recovered without Eggman knowing. But you are correct that the only way to fight the Phantom Ruby is with the Phantom Ruby itself.

WrathNebula321 Finally glad to meet someone who understands Infinite's potential, because it was also said the creators (One of them) wanted to create a character who is faster and stronger than Sonic, plus some people complain about Infinite being defeated 3 times with few reasons and saying he's not faster or strong which they idiotically don't get it, Infinite was never cannonly defeated more than 3 times, he was only defeated twice, first he was easily defeated by Shadow without the phantom ruby, and then in boss fights, Infinite's two defeats doesn't count because in 1st battle, Infinite sends Sonic away against the wall and flee away, still leaving him questionning about his secret power (You honestly call that a win?) plus on the 2nd battle with the Hero, he/she was countering against Infinite's power until Infinite send the Hero down on the ground, leaving the Hero a warning that his/her friends only have 2 days left before he ends it as he left the Hero Also are you certain he had the original phantom ruby? Pretty sure he had the finalized prototype version while Eggman kept the original for his Death Egg Robot

Leon Duncan Well think about it, Eggman was able to get his hands on the Phantom Ruby after it disappeared back in Sonic Mania, not to mention, he had to create multiple copies of the Phantom Ruby to test their power to see how long they would last compared to the original. Also, it was never stated that the Phantom Ruby Infinite had was a prototype or not, only the ones that were created by Eggman.

I love how Mephiles is played completely straight here. It adds to his menace as THE darkest sonic villain. But I also love that while Mephiles dominates the battle of wills, Infinite wins the battle of might. Infinite is one of the strongest Sonic villains, but deep down he's just a sassy angry child. Mephiles is the will of a God... But he lacks power and had to manipulate others instead.

I honestly don't know who would win in this fight. This Infinite is much more better than Sonic Forces's Infinite since he uses his powers more wisely compared to his official incarnation. However Mephiles is practically unstoppable since he can't be truly destroyed only sealed but once he absorbs Shadow's shadow, the Scepter of Darkness won't work on him. The only way to rid him of existence is to travel back in time to blow Solaris's flame out. I don't know if 759 Infinite can time travel. Maybe Null Space may work on Mephiles if he is not fast as Shadow or Sonic. But then again Mephiles is a sly one, so he may catch the jackal off guard.

Two of the greatest villains in the series. Mephiles the Dark: From the worst Sonic game that could've been great had it not been rushed. Shadow powers, a manipulative intellect, and time travel. The only villain to succesfully kill Sonic. Infinite: From an okay Sonic game that's overhated by every asshole calling themselves "fans". The power of physical illusions, energy blasts, and the ability to summon Null Space. He could kill you, but is too arrogant to think you're worth it. In a fight, they would be evenly matched. But if they both went all out, I'm pretty sure Mephiles, who is literally the disembodied mind of a god, wins purely from his ability to plan ahead.

Remember Ian Flynn’s theory that The Time Eater from Generations was Mephiles slipping through the cracks of time? I have imagined this idea of Infinite serving Mephiles and eventually, Shadow remembering Mephiles and preparing and the others to fight him. Side note, I have noticed Sonic Forces has had a polarised reception but I’ll check it out anyway.
