Ravenray 167 I have researched Infinite and the Ruby since the release of Forces! The end is nearly entirely wrong, from Null Space to the very end! The points are mostly solid, I guess. Infinite's Illusion can in fact damage real objects, why do you think 80% of the resistance died at Metropolis, 40-60% were on ships, and Eggman only had Infinite to fight back, as you clearly see no enemy ships! Heck even the roads/highways were real and solid, but were destroyed by longboi's/Golems(Seriously that name is just terrible, why Sonic Team did you call longboi, Golem?)! Again Null space doesn't have time/dimensions/space/existence/anything, so getting out requires plot armor, or Phantom Ruby, which Mephiles is completely lacking! Even Solaris is lacking the ability this! Something that pissed me off, Infinite was not stated to be able to manipulate time in this video, which is weird. Last time I checked the Ruby did manage to make portals, and destroy time, and space in Mania! The fact that Sonic in 06 is extremely inferior to the one from Forces(500 to 1500 times weaker than Forces), is even worse, heck even Omega's attacks got stronger, because one reason is bullets

I think one information that people missed about Mephiles is that by himself, he's physically weak, in his boss fight, he always relies on his minions to fight for him, but the moment he's without them, Shadow could easily kick his ass. Mephiles has no strength by himself and the only reason why he was able to kill Sonic was by attacking him from the back, which is a signal of cowardly in a fight. Mephiles' fighting style is being a coward. That said, Mephiles is immortal and he could only be sealed, so no matter how many times Infinite could kick his ass, even by dominating the entire fight, Mephiles will never die. Infinite is more straightforward as a fighter, he has incredible strength if he was able to dominate the Sonic who was able to defeat Perfect Chaos and give Dark Gaia's first a fight in base form. But because Mephiles is immortal, the chance of winning a fight will never happen. This is basically a fight of the unstoppable forces vs the immovable object. The fight is incompatible.

Dunno why people are saying Mephiles can't fight, I mean he was able to go to to toe with Shadow when they first fought and actually got the upper hand, only difference is Omega came in at the right time and together, Shadow and Omega survived Mephiles. Also, Mephiles is smart, unlike Infinite who is a cocky moron who underestimates his opponents. Mephiles wins.

Infinite however had defeated Sonic without needing to blind him or stab him in the back. Sonic was ready that time. Mephiles is the far better villain, he is a true genius, the entirety of Sonic 06 was practically his plan, everything worked out for him perfectly till the ending, he manipulated Silver, got under shadows skin, killed sonic, outsmarted Eggman, manipulated Blaze, dramatized Elise, he even destroyed everyone's hope at one stage and came close to destroying all of existence. Infinite on the other hand is more of a glass canon who can't see past his own ego, he let shadow live, let sonic live twice, suspected someone was listening in on his very important conversation with Eggman only to just ignore it, all the planning done was by Eggman, heck infinite even criticised one of Eggmans plans only for that plan to almost get rid of Sonic and the custom character for good, he thought he could easily crush sonic at the end which made him under estimate sonic and much more, it's clear that Mephiles is far superior

If the chaos emeralds can control time and Space, and the phantom ruby prototype is stronger than the master emerald, should that make infinite stronger than mephilies. And also the phantom ruby projects a force field around the user that can deflect laser blasts which we saw in sonic forces when omega was shooting at infinite, so mephilies laser blast should have technically proved ineffective.

No we didn’t but clearly you have forgotten how Mephiles killed Sonic. It’s obvious that he couldn’t kill Sonic knowing full well that Sonic could just use his speed against him, so he decided to use a Chaos Emerald like a flash bang grenade to blind his eyes long enough to stab him in the back. Infinite however, despite using the copies of Shadow, Metal Sonic, Chaos, and Zavok, took Sonic while Sonic was ready and won. Only thing that held him down was underestimating his foes. Also his first encounter with Shadow was before he became the Infinite that he is. And Mephiles couldn’t beat Team Dark alone without needing two Chaos Emeralds, one of which he stole from Team Dark. I bet he was using three emeralds that time too since he’s been carrying the purple Chaos Emerald the entire time in the game

Mephiles only had 2 emeralds at the time he created his army of shadows. If Mephiles manhandled Shadow, then I'm sure Mephiles would have manhandled Sonic. Mephiles literally said that Shadow is the only person standing in his way which means he believes that Sonic isn't a threat to him just like Omega wasn't a threat to Mephiles. Mephiles did force Shadow to take his rings off, Infinite never managed to do that. When Sonic came back and knew of Infinite's power, he took care of Infinite. Um.. my guy when Shadow tried to seal Mephiles, Mephiles literally caused a shockwave which blew away Team Dark. Mephiles could have gotten rid of Omega too but he chose not to. This is why Mephiles is a better Villain.

Another thing, Infinite was an "Ultimate Mercenary" which means even though he was powerless, he must of been very strong mercenary than others who don't have any special abilities, i say he's even stronger than Antoine the Coyote, despite having enhanced abilities, Shadow had the bigger advantage since he has Chaos abilities, which i think it would of happened the same way with Nack the weasel, another thing i realised, Infinite is the 5th character to have an "Ultimate" title, and yet imagine if the 4 others were a team! He’s got the power of time travel, immortality, etc. I know it’s for 06’s plot (which I love by the way), but it makes him look like a fool towards the end when he decides to do it for himself. GIOVANNI Martin Mephiles was portrayed to be smart and schematic, but I will have to agree manipulating Silver for no reason is kind of stupid. Still ... still, Mephiles is one of the better villains we have. He is the mind of Solaris, connected to Iblis, damn. Theme was creepy too (Mephiles' Whisper). He's responsible for one of the best scenes in this franchise, like that Team Dark scene where they had to defeat millions of his clones. I get goosebumps every time I watch it, especially when Shadow dropped his rings. Flawed, but well-presented SEGA.

+Special 06 Well, we got Mania to cover for the Phantom Ruby. As for Infinite, I personally enjoyed his backstory. I mean, he started out as an ordinary mercenary to a wholly reality-shifting being; that's actually very impressive. We don't get a lot of villains with simple backgrounds, most of the bad guys we have are usually entities or have some sort of power already born with them (Mephiles, for example). What makes Infinite stand out from the rest is because he was just a normal jackal who became into something much more. He had an ambition, and didn't stop in pursuing it, even after Shadow annihilated his squad and kicked his ass. Hell, I think he should be traumatized by now, but he literally stood up for himself and continued to follow his thirst. The reason why he didn't just go one-on-one with Shadow was because he was not his main priority; his lust for power was. His goal was to harness greater strength and ultimate superiority, not pure revenge. It's just fascinating, really, at how much Infinite's character had developed into the villain he is today. The only thing I probably don't like is his stupidity because his ego is overwhelmingly blinding. But hey, a person needs flaws sometimes. He has human behavior just like the rest of us, which I guess is another reason why he's such a good character.

Especially when you see some of the fan speculations before the games release. I liked the idea with him being possessed by the phantom ruby with it being a self-aware conscious being.

+Special 06 Ah, that is a common pitfall, my good sir. I would suggest avoiding theories before something gets released, otherwise you'll be disappointed that it didn't come out the way predicted. When you do find a theory, just take it with a grain of salt, it's only called a *theory* for that reason. Honestly, I was able to enjoy Forces a lot because I had no expectations from it whatsoever. I knew about the "Tails/Mephiles/Wechnia/Blaze is Infinite" and the rookie being friends with the villain rumors, but didn't take any of them seriously. Setting the theories aside, Forces is actually a pretty neat game: barely any glitches, stunning graphics, free DLCs. An additional bonus if you're a Sonic comic and SatAM fan, because they just went full-on themed with those things (seriously, I love how they have resistance, military-style rankings, spies and war on this game, which gives you early Freedom Fighter goosebumps; makes me miss the Archie comics again after they moved to IDW).

In the next game or anything at all, I really want these guys to return and have an all-out brawl. I’m not talking a fight similar to the one Silver and Infinite had in Mystic Jungle either. Even if that doesn’t happen, Mephiles needs to come back anyway. Like Forces, it’s such a missed opportunity. But judging the current writers for the games, I think he should return in IDW Publishing’s Sonic comic. They are both linked to each other so it’d be no doubt a game with Tangle or Rough and Tumble is in the future. What I mean by this, is to simply have a good presentation so we know the guy has potential.

I totally agree, they wasted such a perfect character, sega wasted too much potential, if they somehow decide to bring mephiles back, they need to make some sort of time corruption, like in generations. Id love to see how mephiles changed, (over 11 years.) But currently, mephiles lives in the void of unused characters. It saddens me, even if a villian goes beyond his limits, no one deserves to be erased from existance. Thats a cruel fate.

This is awesome, although I will say that Infinite's powers in Forces were really underwhelming. It didn't even make sense in the context of Mania. The whole illusions thing is a bit confusing, it's not explained well in game and I think Infinite's powers could've been more fleshed out. Remember that theory Sega Scourge did on who Infinite is? He says that his powers are isokenetic, so he wouldn't have the power of illusions but rather could manipulate the fabric of reality, not create virtual reality, manipulate Sonic's actual reality, which would've been awesome in my opinion.

Wouldn't the Phantom Ruby be able to create working infinity stones that then also would include the time and soul stones as well as basically every other object of power in media making it actually more powerful than them all combined as it can create an infinite amount of them. I see Infinite as a character that is completely unaware of how much power they actually have and have only scratched the surface of their potential like the minor DC villain Control Freak who has a power that I see has the potential to make him the strongest DC villain because he can use powers from movies, and shows like how he has basically used lightsabers and the force in the original Teen Titans so what is stopping him from using the Tardis, Infinity Gauntlet, the One Ring to Rule them All, the Dragon Balls, a Halo ring, and anything else.

The point is, even if we're playing nice and letting Infinite's illusions affect Mephiles (even though they shouldn't), Infinite still can't win. Mephiles is smarter, has stronger energy projection abilities, is capable of time travel, and let's not forget he's *immortal.* He could win by simply waiting a hundred years for Infinite to die of old age, since Infinite can't kill him in the meantime.

Solid points but I disagree. Nothing exsist in Null Space including time so Mephilies can't time travel out. Infinite also defeated an on guard Sonic while Mephilies killed him while he wasn't paying attention. Plus Infinite faced a MUCH stronger Sonic than Mephilies did as Sonic grows. Sonic actually has feats that put him at a Universal tier but not in 06. At 06 he was Multi-Solar System because of Sonic Battle. Mephilies can only make clones of himself while Infinite could make numerous Mephilies, Sonics, Shadows, Metal Sonics. While Mephilies is a better villian, Infinite curbstomps him. Although Infinite can only BFR him with Null Space as Mephilies can't die.

The thing is, I doubt they would even fight. Mephiles would more than likely notice the power Infinite has. If anything, Mephiles would convince Infinite to join him. Infinite's goal was to destroy Shadow and the world. Mephiles would more than likely use that as a way to swoon Infinite over to his ranks. So in a battle, Mephiles would win, simply because he wouldn't let it start in the first place. However, if the two were to fight... I'd still give it to Mephiles. While Infinite has power over Space, Mephiles has the perfect counter: Time. Mephiles could have stopped Forces from happening had he been there.

Infinite was nerfed with the Phantom prototype, but with that in mind, with the actual Phantom Ruby, Infinite can distort reality and make actual bodies instead of "copies." His obvious weakness is him underestimating his opponents and being quick-tempered. In raw power, Infinite isn't to be taken lightly, but would be outclassed. Mephiles is smart, almost too smart for his own right, which is why he seemingly toys with Silver and Shadow and took an easy way with Sonic's murder. His manipulation carried most of his plans, but he is again, very intelligent, so that's not exactly a catalyst that will sway this argument. Infinite did lose to Shadow (with inhibitors ON) while having a losing temper, which is a weakness that digs his grave. Sonic did lose to him initially, but to me, Sonic wasn't fully prepared to outright defeat him until toward the end of the game, and that's with the assistance of the secondary protagonist. Mephiles obviously defeated Sonic, using an emerald to his advantage to catch him off guard. Team Dark struggled against Mephiles multiple times, easily outclassing Rouge and Omega, but Shadow did provide somewhat of a challenge with his inhibitors off. He did break free from the Scepter during the fight against Team Dark, which worked in Silvers timeline well before this event happened. In his combination with Iblis, it took 3 characters in their super forms to stop Solaris, which was the ultimate do-or-die for that storyline. Mephiles will ultimately win this battle, but Infinite's capabilities will give Mephiles a challenge.

lets not forget, Mephilis..isn't mortal...Infinite is a living, breathing being, who has the weakness of having a *source* of power. Mephy...doesn't. He by all rights seemed damn near unkillable, Shadows go to was basically sealing him, not destroying him, which even then, proved moot cause he apparently absorbed shadows power which somehow allows him to "nope" that crap. Meanwhile, Infinite proved time and time again he was able to be fought and defeated, Sonic and the Avatar didn't even need a prototype when they beat him, they needed it to deal with that SUN of his, yeah, but he HIMSELF, was able to be handled by two people he's fought before. Also, y'know, despite all the circumstances, Mephy holds the credit of being able to say he actually KILLED Sonic, and Winded Shadow out to the point where he needed E-123 to back him up. TL;DR: Mephy is half a deity with powers over time and darkness. Infinite has a OP Gem, one has natural abilities, the other doesn't, and sorry to say, those natural abilities are more OP than the Gem. No amount of illusions can trump time control.

He can go at any point in time and space to merge with Inblis and instead of just going for it, he just plays around with everyone like puppets and toys heck he set the stage from the beginning, especially for when Elise became closer to Sonic and then killing him in front of her in cold blood just so he can relish on her despair and release Iblis, he completely shattered Shadow’s relationship with his friends/colleagues as a part of his revenge against him and he played Silver like a fiddle and made him go to extreme lengths to kill Sonic without knowing that it would do the opposite of what he wants and instead Mephiles wants. Did he have to do all this? No! But why did he do it? It’s because he can and that’s another one of the most terrifying parts about him.

I have to disagree with the fight. Infinite can exploit Mephiles weakness to light base attacks. He can create copies of Shadow to attack Mephiles like he did in 06. Also Mephiles is nowhere near as powerful without merging with Iblis to become Solaris. Mephiles himself was beaten by Shadow and ultimately needed to retreat by the end of Shadow's story. Since Infinte can make an army of Shadows he should be able to overwhelm Mephiles. Not to mention Infinite was able to beat Sonic in a fight while Mephiles needed to surpise Sonic to kill him meaning Infinite is a better fighter. I don't agree that Mephiles won't be affected by Infinite's illusion. There really isn't anything in 06 showing that he would be immune to Infinite's illusions. Just because he's smart doesn't mean he won't be affected by Infinite's illusion. Now the time traveling could would be the only way I see Mephiles beating Infinite by himself though there's still one problem with it. Mephiles never used time travel to go back to the past to kill his enemies. This means he must have some limit preventing him from doing that to Shadow before he sealed him up the first place.... or Mephiles is just kind of an idiot who never thought to use his powers that way. Though if we do add Solaris then yeah Mephiles wins. No questions ask. Though it was an interesting video I have to disagree with it.

i agree with you, Infinite was CONFIRMED BY SEGA to be the strongest villain! Lets say Mephiles doesn't get effected by the illusion as in see the illusion, well that is Infinite's advantage! Longboi's were seen to be able to destroy REAL terrain, basically making a blind fight! The phantom Ruby has shown time manipulation as well, so it will only be an advantage for Infinite! Same could be said with overclocked Infinite, but against Solaris! Overclocked will win against Solaris!

I disagree about the Solaris part. Even if Infinite defeated Solaris which he MIGHT have the power since the Phantom Ruby according to Eggman is more powerful than the Master Emerald he would need to destroy Solaris in the Past and Future, I don't think Infinite has the means to do this. But if it was just against Mephiles like here then yes I think Infinite wins. Mephiles couldn't beat Shadow and not only can Infinite create an army of Shadows to fight Mephiles Infinite could also beat Sonic in a straight up fight who can defeat Shadow in a fight. Mephiles needed to take Sonic by surprise to kill him. It's important to understand that Mephiles is the intelligence of Solaris and Iblis is Solaris' raw strength. Mephiles isn't as strong as Iblis and required to think around the heroes not beat them in a fight. So I feel in a fight between Infinite and just Mephiles Infinite would come out on top.

Next question would be what else could keep Mephiles sealed? If the scepter of darkness is destroyed then could a master ball seal Mephiles? A master ball can seal any Pokémon even legendaries, Mewtwo, Darkrai, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Giritina, etc. a master ball was built to capture Pokémon despite how strong a Pokémon is, it can’t escape so it is possible that a master ball could capture Mephiles. (Infinite would probably be caught by a poke ball or ultra ball since he is a bit weak as a villain hiding behind a mask and using a ruby to cause illusions, it is possible that Infinite was based off Zorua’s last evolution form since he is the master of illusions)

In the end, I have to disagree. Infinite was able to output a star level attack through the PR, something Mephiles doesn't have much in comparison to. It doesn't matter if the sun was an illusion, it's been stated the PR projections have form and mass.

To be fair we never really see what Mephilis can really do, sure he fights Shadow but only as a means of distraction, he is the other half of a artificial God and has the power to travel through time without the Chaos Emeralds Not to mention he killed Sonic with ease regardless if he was blindsided, it took no effort, and at the same time Infinite isn't in possession of the real phantom ruby, and if Mephalis noticed the ruby was the source of Infinites power he would just destroy it, the prototypes are shown to not be very durable
