Thanks also for this comparison 👍 My "old" PD36 TAC (SST70) heats up quickly at maximum power level but is always a show when turned on at turbo level. I don't know what outside temperature it was in your test but the duration I saw in the video is decent

Hi Stefano, I find the PD36R Pro steps down at 30 seconds similar to PD35R... But they don't get too hot to handle. Temperature was around 10 deg C. Thank you.

Thanks for the info on batteries, Darren. Those are nice big batteries and helps my decision. I hate the idea of proprietary-only batteries and worse yet are the built in non-removable variety. So big plus for Fenix!

All good mate, the PD35R and 3.0 run off other 18650 cells too. I use a Samsung 30Q in my PD35R!

Are the batteries in each replaceable with generic batteries (eg. 18650) or only a Fenix proprietary type? What are the mAh ratings? Thanks for very useful comparison.

Yes they will both take non proprietary 21700 cells. The included ones are 5000mAh.

Awesome comparison, just the video I needed since I was deciding between these two. The hidden battery indicator on the TK20R V2.0 is kind of a fail imo since you need to unscrew something every time you want to check the battery life. What were the engineer's thought process when designing this flashlight's battery indicator, lol. Thanks for the video.

I pulled my TK20 out to check that battery indicator location as I didn't actually notice that.. turns out the head is stuck on - can't unscrew it lol. Have to find a way to get more grip on the thing.

Mine started to freeze up. I greased the o-rings top & bottom plus added some to the threads and that fixed it right up. I used petroleum jelly because that's what I had.

@@DarrenYeoYT I don't think the head is removable from the TK20R V2. And as far as the battery indicator on the TK20R V2 I would MUCH prefer the hidden indicator to the floppy crappy rubber flap that covers the charging port on the PD series. It will eventually stop wanting to close fully and become extremely annoying. The TK20R V2 will never have that issue for its lifetime.

I ended up with the 20 as well. It's honestly not bad tucked into the waist band. It's not ideal in a pants pocket but it's doable if it's just the light in your pocket. The TK20R v2 pairs well with the E35R. They're both 21700 flashlights but the E35R is even more compact and floody than the PD36R Pro. The 20 is great for when you need a bit more throw

Should be if they are the same design. I tried swapping PD35 V3 with the PD35R and no luck. I'll try later and see.

Fenix Rules. I have the TK15, TK15 U.E. and the PD25R (also some other brands) but the Fenix has the Most Accurate Tail Switch in a Tactical or Emergency situation.

My PD35 V2 I bought in 2018 is still going strong. Multiple deployments and drops, that thing is on me whenever I’m at work. Never failed me.

Which do you think is superior as weapon light?

Not my area of knowledge at all, but the TK20R has springs under the head and tailcap - much better for recoil so the driver won't absorb much of the recoil. It's also built better in my opinion - you unscrew the head to access charging port. But the PD36R Pro is lighter, smaller.

How is the TK20 tactical when it has a loud clicky sound? Doesn't make sense to me same with the PD36R pro.

Depends on your definition of tactical I guess. I prefer Armytek lights if I'm really needing a more 'serious' tactical light. But some would say that even they suck and Surefire is better. I don't own any of their lights though.

So the conclusion is tk20 v2 is a bit brighter than pd36R pro because of the intensity is higher and larger dimension. The tail button structure are the same, both cannot tail stand. However, I just bought PD36R PRO around ￥660 CNY. Without comparison, it's pretty good.

TK20 v2 Is just a bit cumbersome to carry in your pocket so most would probably prefer the PD36R Pro if portability is your priority.
