You also forgot that in V-Trigger Akuma can air fireball on a jump back or neutral jump and he also can't EX Shoryu. Also that only certain special moves drain his V-Trigger time like a Shoryu and air fireball. I think it's pretty important to go over these changes, especially him being able to air fireball on a jump back in V-Trigger as that adds a whole other dynamic to his zoning game while in V-Trigger. Akuma is a lot of fun.. I won a bunch of games with him yesterday and that was the first time I've been online at all in a long time. I haven't been online since Alex came was released but Akuma got me hyped to get back into playing SF5.

A nice tool to remember also is that Akumas HP flaming projectile can go through most if not all non EX projectiles. You can mix someone up in the rhythm of canceling your normal haddokens and hit them with a quick one

1:51 - On the Crush Counter, the Standing HP is actually cool to use as target combo, especially when you have the V-Trigger ready. You can go: (crush)HP, HP, v-trigger, fwd dash, Gou Shouryuu. That makes some really nice damage. The dash here is to make all hits on Shouryuu. Without it it hits only once as far as I remember.

Standing light kick is great for grabbing afterwords since it's the only move of Akuma's where you don't have to move forward after in order to grab.

Great video I have few additions After forward HP using LK instead of LP is better because it doesn't push opponent as much and go shoryu always hits 3 times. You can perform an ex air fireball or ex air tatsu during a normal demon flip. V-trigger go shoryu is invincible just like ex go shoryu And most importantly Raging Demon is fully invincible while sliding, which means you can punish almost everything with it. Even moves like Bison's scissors kicks and Urien's CA (that one needs some timing though since Urien is also fully invincible during CA)

Also In corner you can actually hit your opponent after CA. In fact the highest dmg combo I found without any counter or stun is jumping HP, go shoryu cancelled into CA, go shoryu cancelled into V-trigger, go shoryu which does 584 dmg in total

A very big secret for akuma players:v trigger allows air gohadoken to be in netrual jump and back jump,too.Making it very good for spacing and sf4 akuma styled hadokens.Also I prefer to literally walk in to grab while the v triggered hadokens are falling,making it hard for the opponent to choose a choice cuz they both involve dmg

@@inombo You don't know beforehand. It's depending on what the opponent is doing and if your move counters it (thus the name). You have to basically react to it as it happens.

Important thing about the ashura senku is that it is not invincible to throws anytime during the animation. You can be grabbed out of it on startup so if your fighting a throw heavy opponent don't use it, and never use it against good sf5 players you'll get punished every time. It's dumb as hell bc that makes the move useless it needs invincibility on startup

Good sir, i can only say hell yes. Ive watched nothing since SF4. Ive done great in SF5 in spite of such till yesterday. I lost 13 of 15. I recently ranked up, and had the new higher lvl players punish seemingly my every step. But, turns out i was playing SF4 Akuma in a SF5 world. I didnt know dragon punch\hurricane kicks were now so punishable. Thanks so much, and im eager to watch the rest.

Sekiseiken - f+HP can also be used as a combo ender if they don't quick recover EDIT: Meaning you can hit them while they're on the ground, basically the same as Uriens CA.

I always set up the raging demon after doing the zanku hadoken,that makes the player to instinctively block it and it hits the raging demon in his face .

The best way to make use of Raging Demon is to buffer the inputs. I don't know if it's still a thing, but Oni could buffer it off of f.MP in SF4 to feint into it.

Great video, there are two little things that you missed. In v-trigger mode you can use air fireballs even in backward or neutral jumping, and the second thing is that you can actually combo into raging demon after down HP crush counter or HK crush counter its little tough tho, but really great guide overall.

Hey man, thanks for the guide. I was having trouble connecting the Raging Demon but now that you clarified that it can't be linked in a combo, that explains a lot. Although I seem to be having the problem that sometimes I input the command, it launches the raging demon but it moves the other character, like literally at their side and it moves them but doesn't start the move. Do you know why that could happen? Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? (I usually try to do it after I get a MP or something to leave open so they can't jump it, but it also happens if I just land and execute it)

You can combo HP shoryu after MK tatsu, but it only connects for one hit (~26 damage).

nice guide man you missed something that I would like to add that was used agaisnt me online. if your anti air someone with bk.hp you can combo in red fireball I went straight into the lab to test it. you can use light medium and hard plus if you hit them on the ground using bk.hp it also works it's not safe though so using it as an anti air is the best way.

What does unsafe on block mean? Also what is this +2, -2 stuff you're referring to?

It is the frame data for moves. The fastest moves in SFV are 3 frames. These are light punches for some characters. So, if a move leaves you at +2, then it means you are 2 frames ahead of your opponent. Allow me to give an example. If I do a move with Akuma that is +3, I can do a move that is 5 frames and it will still come out faster than my opponents 3 frame attack. This is because the opponent is at -3 once they block my attack. I hope this helps you out :)

Why do people end combos in LK Tatsu HK Tatsu mid screen but LK Tatsu Shoryu in the corner so often? Is the LK/HK tatsu ender done for the corner carry, meter gain, or because it is harder to get the Shoryu to land mid screen? I don't have a good comp or a ps4 yet so I've yet to pick up the game, I just watch it as a fan. Hoping to snag it soon though, Gouki/Akuma looks really fun in this game!

You're actually correct with your guess. The HK Tatsu is for the corner carry. The Shoryu is equally easy anywhere on screen and the meter gain is (as far as I can tell) the same.

When I read your answer I went to training mode to check it out. You are correct in that the HK tatsu does more stun (raw HP Shoryu does 150 and HK Tatsu does 200) but the Shoryu always does more damage. On top of that, in longer combos you should always do Shoryu since it is only three hits (HK tatsu is four) and thus, because of the damage scaling, is always netting more damage in the end.

Wilwind Maximus I think he was nerfed in this game because he’s kinda like a glass cannon he hits hard but has very low health so you have to be careful not to get hit too much

It's referring to frame data on a move. I don't know what specifically you're talking about, but he's likely talking about a move being blocked (correct me if I'm wrong) and the frame difference between when you can act and when your opponent can act after the move is blocked. + means the attacker can act first, and - means the defender can act first.

Devin Farmer his normals are slow has confirms are weak his high/low mixup koi is good but his Demon flip mixups off of block are easy to defend. If his dash was faster he would be a better version of Akuma. The game forces you to play a slow methodical game. It just doesn't seem like Akuma to me.

I'm pretty sure Akuma doesn't cost that much, and also you can buy DLC characters with fight money if you grind for enough of it. Are you sure you didn't buy the season pass? The season pass is $30, and will include all 6 season 2 DLC characters.

I got Akuma with other 6 characters season 2 DLC downlaoded into my PS4 SFV. I can play only Akuma, but the rest of 6 new characters are loced with shopping carts until I have to pay more for each ot them in order to play with them. I see all old & new characters in the TRAINING selection. In the SURVIAL selection, Akuma is available with the old characters of season 1 DLC, but 6 new characters are not.

You seem to be confusing season 1 with season 2. Season 1 contains Alex, Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri, and Urien. Those characters are the ones you're seeing on the select screen. Season 2 (the one you seem to have purchased) contains Akuma, Kolin, and 4 other characters that haven't been revealed yet. If you bought the season pass for season 2, you won't get the season one characters, but you get Akuma, and you'll get Kolin and the other 4 when they're finished.

His air fireballs are the most fun thing about him. His V skill is boring at best and a pain at worst for me. Overall I prefer Kage but am willing to play this guy a bit at least. Only other notable thing is his Demon is alot faster than Kage but can't be combo'd into

u didnt mention that the gohadokens in close range knock the enemy down, and as well that the seiko goshoha does a damage over time if you do it as an EX Move in close range. Which is pretty good for blocking dmg, if the enemy is turtleing and blocking everything.
