Yeah when you think about it VS2 nerf was necessary. Most power up Vskills in the game literally needed a buff to allow characters to gain their enhanced state safely, like Balrog VS2 from Target combo and screw upper or even non power up ones like Ryu VS2 from Target combo. Urien however never had this issue, he had tons of ways to gain VS safely so it made it abusable. So the logic here is, if it's gonna be abusable than make it unsafe on block to balance it. Aegis is strong so the fact he can reliably gain vmeter with VS2 to gain early aegis was too good. Still VS2, that Vskill got off easy. It's still plus on block if you throw it mid-full screen and chase it, it's still plus up close if you charge it, still automatically plus if you use ex VS2 and even more plus if you use charge ex VS2. So the fact there was so many scenarios to make it threatening and on top you could have a plus 2 situation with no effort that led to a tick throw situation was indeed mindless. Still strong as heck even with the nerf.

@@ocost3000 You just pointed out two ways he can activate it safely yourself. Not all characters can be built the same. For a a VT and VS that's as strong as his, there should be a trade off, that's literally the point of balance. So if he gets a knock down via sweep or ex headbutt which is two options he can VS2 activate safely from, he shouldn't get Oki plus VS2 activation that's one of the reasons it was too strong to begin with, you should have to choose between an ender for damage, or Oki or vskill power up not multiple options at once, that's why the top tiers are the top tiers. Karin for example was nerfed specifically to have to choose between damage or Oki, when she effortless got both with her bnbs. On top they still needed to nerf her dmg and stun, because she still had a lot of situations where she got Oki and dmg at the same time. Urien can use ex headbutt to activate vskill, can use knockdown, can sacrifice dmg from cr.hp xx fireball xx tackle and either not go for the tackle or fireball so he can activate VS2, there's also the fact crush counter sweep gives him VS2 activation and oki too. For a character who has one of the best triggers in the game, he shouldn't be able to gain Vmeter so easily and Oki on top too. He was always top tier even without VS2 before they gave it to him. Now he's a lot more fair, which is how the balance should be. Even with all this he's still top tier. So really does he need Oki with VS2 activation? C'mon.

I should also mention if you're smart like Tokido you can use frame advantage from hits to safely activate VS2, Urien has no shortage of ways to activate VS2 safely. He's not stressing.

Like I don't know any that let you install and keep oki other than hard knockdowns, so I'm not sure how uriens is any easier to obtain than any others. But I don't know much about other installs since I only main urien and i get what you're saying about v meter build. I imagine other installs have frame advantage setups too and now rog can cancel into it.

Actually the Aegis reflector disappearing if it trades is a buff as Urien Player. That is usually a waste of a use of the mirror since the second mirror is usually doesn’t have an advantage. Now if I v shift on wake up and do a v break, I am only half a v bar away from having the mirror again. This makes me play completely differently; meaning trying to use the v skill as much as I can so if I end up in that situation, I still have enough life left to activate the mirror in a more appropriate manner

Urien was easily Top tier, now he dropped to High I think, at worst mid-high. Aegis can't be used as a wake-up and force a trade anymore, he needs to commit to EX headbutt, which was also nerfed, making it easier to punish. Knee drop as an escape tool was also nerfed, and Aegis was weakened due to V-shift and the added scaling of combo into throws, adding another layer of complexity to the character, since his setups will need to factor it as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong. While personally not a Urien player, I'm thinking stuffing his mirror even on wake up might kill the respect it had Fair enough don't wake up and do it. But I think it served well as a block string of sorts. Now people might just jab during the mix up. That's how I think it'll translate but I'm haven't been hard-core into matches this time around. Last time I played a Urien player in loads of sets was about a year ago. I already hear he's like what, lower mid tier?

Nah he's always been top tier. He's consistently in top 8 all the time and there's a lot of pros who main him, more so than most characters. He's still gonna be top tier even with the nerfs but he's just a lot of fairer to play against now.

The mirror only disappears if urien is hit during the startup of the VT activation. Otherwise the mirror will still come out even if the opponent is trying to jab their way out.
