SG907 MAX - Low Cost Drone with BIG Features (3 axis Camera Gimbal) - Review

I did an experiment with various microSD cards to document which worked, and which didn't with this drone. Here's what was tried, what worked, and what didn't. The only theory I have as to why some worked, and some didn't, is that they may have installed a very old card writer (maybe some vendor had a large batch of very old writers at little cost?). This seems to be the best for the buck right now. It is however now around the $200+ price range due to the economy 😥 with 2 Batts and a carrying case. Thanks for your reviews. Waiting on delivery of my Mavic Mini 2. Lost my first Mini on Saturday in the top of a 70’ poplar tree. Thought it was a goner! Luckily it fell out Sunday afternoon with only prop damage. This review shows a very cheap in comparison drone, great for someone to learn on. Practice on before flying into trees maybe.

If you have the SG907 Pro or Max, the secret to indoor flight is start the controller and hold the GPS button until it switches to GPS 'OFF' mode on the controller screen. Then power up the SG907 drone. Once it syncs up and lights are solid, use the joy sticks to unlock and power up the propellers and push the button to take off within a 5 second window for each process. Once done, you can fly indoors. When the drone is landed it will automatically switch back to GPS 'ON' mode and cannot be switched back. Turn both controller and drone off and repeat process or if replacing with a fresh drone battery. Happy indoor flying.

I couldn't record video or pics, so I undid the cover where the optical flow lens is (4 small screws) and pushed the ribbon connector in after flipping the holder open. I then closed the holder. It works fine now. 16gb max according to the instructions.

No drone is without it's problems. I started on a Syma X5C 100% manual. I moved to a Phantom 3 and was wowed with altitude hold and all the features. I progressed to mini and micros as they are just safer for my area. No geofencing or additional apps are needed for permission to fly. I particularly like Tinyhawk 1 and Parrot Mambo FPV now. I also bought Mini 2 but regardless of the 249 grams the app still has the normal DJI restrictions. The SG906 and 907 are a great way for beginners and budget minded people to get their feet wet in the drone world. The safest fun factor for me though comes from Tinyhawk and Mambo.

Excellent reviews, a pity that the SIM card recording didn't work to compare the video quality with your phone. As you have reviewed the SG907 Max and the S135Pro could you help me to decide which one to buy please. Avoidance on the S135 Pro is a nice feature to have but as I already fly drones not as important as sim video recording for me. I look forward to your recommendation please. Many thanks Oscar

You can’t really complain for the price (£100 UK) .... and you get a 3 axis gimbal ... shame about the video quality to the card ...... Drones normally have a 3 year shelf life for support if you buy them during the month they come to market. So for your next purchase buy something that was released in the past 3 months and you should get a minimum of 3 years support (as long as the drone purchase is from DJI)

Abhay, if you look back 1 year ago, there was no such thing as a drone with a 3 axis gimbal with all these features for under $130 US. Also, you have to think... If the drone costs $130 US, it means to build the drone the company spend $70 on parts. The other $60 is for advertizing, distribution and profit. So how much do you think a camera on a $70 drone costs... probably $10. Yup, so if you keep looking for a camera like a DJI drone in a $130 drone you'll never find it. This drone, for the price of $130, is actually a really good drone compared to the competition at the same price.

This is a good drone to practice flying a drone from zero experience to get the stick understanding then after get higher performing DJI drones. Some people start off with the DJI drones and crash them. Never crash a drone as it may never fly the same way again.
