SGB Play: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back - Part 1

Summer has arrived, so we figured in addition to our upcoming Bat-A-Thon, we also do some heavily requested games for those that may not be interested in the Dark Knight. For Matt's non-Batman choice, he's bringing the ever popular sequel to the original Crash Bandicoot to the Let's Play channel.
Almost immediately after his defeat by the hands of Crash, Dr. Neo Cortex discovers an alternate means to rule the world, Crystals. By pretending to be on the good-side, Cortex manipulates Crash into going on a dangerous adventure to gather the 25 Crystals needed to complete his plans. Crash isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'm sure with the assistance of his little sister Coco, the two can manage to find a way to make sure everything works out in the end.
Episode 1: Matt, the Nervous Fukem.
Matt will tirelessly remind you that he's a nervous wreck while recording this, and will take every pot-shot he can at Elliot for his previous playthrough of Crash 3. Don't worry, Elliot was expecting this, and has come prepared.

I remember as a kid with my friend, I noticed the level looked odd and suggested the idea of skipping every box. Then when we got to the box wall, my friend wanted to give up and I was like 'No wait we can jump on one and not break it'. In the end we found it and we both just screamed in excitement/achievement. One of the best days in my life in gaming I'll admit. =)

My favourite gameplay channels were the only things keeping me going through my year, and it's good to know that despite the GG fiasco, some things can always stay wonderful and true. And you guys playing Crash Bandicoot (my childhood game) simply brightens my day.

Funny story: My first playthrough of Cold Hard Crash, I managed to get the clear gem at the end of the death path, and I thought "Oh shit, i'm going to slide off the edge and miss a whole mess of boxes!". I somehow grabbed the gem, then I slid back onto solid ground of the death path. At this part, I was thinking to myself "YES! I'm going to get everything in Cold Hard Crash in one run!". I ran to the end of the level, making sure I got the rest of the boxes, and I missed one box, like the stage was saying "Nuh uh; two runs, bitch!". Cold Hard Crash can go fuck itself.

Actually, the reason Tawna was taken out was because someone at Warner Bros. didn't like her design, and they didn't want to change SO MUCH they took her out all together. Though she reappered in Crash Boom Bang with a design closer to her original.

He also provided the voice of Mr. Krabbs in 'SpongeBob Squarepants', starred in a mini-series on Lifetime called 'Love, Lies & Murder'. provided the voice of Rayden in 'Mortal Kombat: The Defenders Of The Realm', played the captain of the guards in 'The Shawshank Redemption' & played Lex Luthor in 'Superman: The Animated Series'. That's about all I remember from off the top of my head.; I might be forgetting some other famous roles he may've had, though & I just can't seem to place them...

At some point, these guys will need to do N-Sane Trilogy, when it comes out, and have them all play the games they each played previously; as in, Johnny with Crash 1, Matt with Crash 2, and Elliot with Crash 3. The reason? The graphics, and gameplay look AMAZING!! And, I wanna see if Elliot can do a better job at Crash 3, now that he's a bit older, than he was when he first played it for the channel.

I still remember I actually spent hours trying to jump on the bounce box and timing when the crystal float the lowest to get that Red crystal. You actually can get it by jump on the box then slam to gain a little bit more height, it just takes a long LONG time to get XD

You know what's funny? This and MANY other games in my collection I've had for over 10 years, but it's only been recently that I've been able to understand what characters like Cortex were saying.

There is actually a super jump in Crash 2 that you can use to get the red gem on your first visit to Snow Go, what you need to do is to do a slide, then prss X and Square at the same time, if done correctly you will do a high jump while spinning that goes a bit higher then normal, then press O to do a belly flop, with correct timing and a bit of luck you can collect the Red Gem using this jump

What I kinda like about Crash 2 over 3 is it's level theming. I can get why people whould like th variety of level tropes to visit in Crash 3, but to me that came off as very unfocused. I like that in Crash 2, they kept this theme of nature & technology as it gives the game it's own identity in a sence.
