The main reason why Tawna was omitted from future Crash games (except from that one shitty DS game no one talks about) was because the marketing director of Naughty Dog at the time objected Tawna's initial design on "basic sexist principles". The director's behavior concerning the issue unnerved the president of Universal Studios at that time so much that he requested Naughty Dog to rework Tawna's design to make it "kid friendly." Rather than rework her design, Naughty Dog said "fuck it, let's just scrapped Tawna forever and make a new character instead" which led to Coco Bandicoot's creation.

There is nothing more stressful than trying to reach a bonus stage to save your progress in this game's later hours. I lost my shit so many times when I failed a bonus stage and had to see all my progress be for naught. Seriously, Crash 2 and 3 are amazing, but fuck this game.

And the whole character is sexist anyway, she says. This was just one of many arguments between Universal and Naughty Dog, often leading to Naughty Dog threatening to quit. But this time, to quote the director of the original trilogy, Jason Rubin, "Tawna wasn't worth fighting for."

I recall hearing that the reason Tonna was scrap was cause "Soccer Moms'' didn't like how she looked (was modeled after Pamela Anderson) So when Crash 2 was in the works they remodel it and thus Coco was born ... and gave us the reason Tonna was not in the game

The save system is one of the reasons I barely ever play this game. Since I suck at using the d-pad and the games difficulty I die frequently even in the early stages, so on my first run I never knew the gems existed and would keep losing the Tauna icons, or die in the later Tauna stages trying to get to the save point. An actual save button would of made this game so much better.

Johnny, I thought you weren't going to bother trying for 100% on this game. If you're seriously going for 100%, then best of luck, and kudos sir. This certainly was the most difficult game of the trilogy and even moreso for 100% as you've said before. I got this game with my first Playstation when I was about 4. I was perpetually stuck on the first Boulder level. Eventually, I found a 100% password and played all the levels through off that, but the first time I actually sat down and beaten this game from start to finish was when I was 16.

Actually, skipping the Orange Gem in Upstream is indeed possible, however everyone from the Crash 1 speedrunning community pretty much says it's TAS-only, requiring frame perfect jumps and inputs that can't be done on a real time RTA run like this one.

I remember this game being a bit hard to play through. I did ragequit after one one level on the second island and have regretted it since. As for Wrath of Cortex, I remember playing with the Xbox version while helping someone once, and was not impressed by the controls(I kinda remember it being slippery). I have yet to try the Gamecube version and the PS2 version (besides long loading times) felt like it controlled well in comparison to Xbox version.
