Fun fact: There were going to be a couple more monsters added to this game, but ended up being scrapped, including Biollante (which there is gameplay footage of), Titanosaurus, Battra, Super Mechagodzilla, Hedorah, Varan, Mechagodzilla 1, and Godzilla 1954 (most being included in Godzilla Unleashed for the Wii and Battra being included for the PS2 version). There was also going to be a couple more maps, but due to time constraints, they were scrapped. Those 2 being Antarctica and Las Vegas.

TheBowserPrime i heard Biollante was playable on the PS2 version of STE. Though it was a rumor from what I heard long ago. Hold R2 when selecting Godzilla 2000. Again for the PS2 and a rumor long ago. I could be wrong.

It took a while for Hedorah to be playable in a game to be honest, as it was said they had trouble making him work. Really I just think Pipeworks was a little too ambitious with how they were trying to make Hedorah function.

Two days ago my friends and I played Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. I didn't think it was going to be that great but my god we put in 4hrs straight. It was just mindless button mashing fun. Also King Ghidorah's laser wrecks everyone's shit.

I've had a fair bit of fun with Destroy All Monsters Melee on the Gamecube. The biggest problem is the lack of Jet Jaguar, which this game thankfully remedies. As for the new movie, I loved it. It had about as much monsters as you can expect from most Godzilla movies, but the humans were interesting.

I'm going to get a lot of heat for this but not only is the new Godzilla my favorite Godzilla movie period but the Legendary Godzilla is the best version of the Big G to me. I should also mention that about a week before the movie came out everyone from Toho saw it and loves it, saying it paid great tribute to Godzilla's legacy.

I loved godzilla final wars for the human interaction (and the martial arts scenes especially), and yes most of the movies have alot of human interaction from what i've seen, especially the ones before godzilla vs destroyah. That said, i do understand people disliking the human interactions, but they are a staple of the godzilla series.

In regards to Johnny's question about the Godzilla film structure. I'm working my way through all of the films at the moment and just watched Destroy all Monsters. The films do have more of a focus on the humans but there's less of a lead up to monster introductions seeing as at the time everyone already had seen these monsters in other films. Destroy all monsters had a really satisfying godzilla fight but I felt the plot was too similar to VS The astro monster.

The reason that I disliked it so much is because it tried to do what the 1954 Godzilla did except it did it much worse and mixed in really stupid Thriller/Horror elements at the very end. It wasn't a bad Godzilla movie. It was a bad movie

SouthSun89 But I dunno about that. From what I understand, the first Godzilla movie from 1954 was told as a serious cautionary tale about nuclear weapons. I guess it's only when they started adding other monsters and aliens and all this crazy stuff that it became more tongue-in-cheek. I'm no authority on this franchise, but I remember the 98 flick followed a roughly similar formula to the Japanese movies. I think the movie's only real "sin" is that it changed the design of Godzilla, but if you follow it as though it's a different monster as Toho have apparently done, it's really not such a horrible flick. Wow, didn't mean to make such a paragraph.

I've played Destroy All Monsters Melee once on single player. I got up to the second match with Megalon (I think, whoever has the drills for hands) and all he did was spam his throwing move over and over again, and I couldn't beat him. Never played the game again after that.

The movies are pretty much like that. I noticed this after watching Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla. I think the reason why I enjoyed the classics more than the new movie is because I get a kick out of the horrible dubbing. In fact, when I watched the new movie, after the first line of dialogue, I said, "The lip movements match the dialogue. Ruined forever. 1/10." Also, the significance of the names of the eras refer to the name of the Emperor at the time, Heisei is the name of the current Emperor and therefore, it is the name of the current era.

To be honest most Godzilla films are 85% of humans in every film. for example the original films gojira, the american verson Godzilla, godzilla vrs mothra, godzilla vrs gigain, godzilla vrs ghidorah/monster zero/king ghidorah, and godzilla destory all monsters. Its been the standered in every godzilla film made. you pic any godzilla film to date and it all remains true. on the plus side i do agree it would be nice to seem more monster scenes but not to much just to balance it out.

The thing about Godzilla's formula is that this movie felt the worst with that. Starting off with the fact that the new movie was on the meaty side when it came to Godzilla. Also, In the earlier movies, while the human stuff was pretty dominant, it was only to like 65% dominance as opposed to 95% like in the new one. It didn't help that this stuff was boring, whereas in somehting like in the 1st vs Mechagodzilla, there was at least something to laugh at with the cheesyness or something interesting like in Final wars or vs King-Ghidorah. Second, when Godzilla does something in most of the good Godzillas, they make sure that Godzilla actually does something signifigant. Even if the build up in the new one got that *fantastic* reveal in the Honolulu scene, there was no payoff to that reveal. Nothing happened & nothing would proceed to happen for a while. I enjoyed the new movie, but that movie also became just a big game of "Get on with it!" very quickly after that Honolulu scene.
