Very helpful video! Thanks for posting on Clay Buddies and sharing your video. I'm so excited to try out our mishima technique. It's more like antiquing furniture than other mishima techniques I've seen, and I love antiquing furniture!

Great Video but it would be most helpful if you could show the end product AFTER firing. Everyone shows the procedure, however they look different after firing. Assuming you clear glazed.... so on.. Its not just you its everyone that fails to show the final result.

Tiffany Rich I agree! I would have to learn how to edit the video. I created this by request from a few potters on the Clay Buddies fb group on spur of the moment. You can see the gamut of my pottery on my Instagram if u like 😊 Www.instagram.com/mudnymphpottery Thanks for viewing and your input!

Karen...how did you do the blue bowl with (I'm guessing) white sgraffito? I looked for a video but couldn't find it. Would love to see the process. I really enjoyed your video too.

Cindy Perry Hi Cindy, thanx for watching and commenting! It was he exact same process, but I painted black underglaze instead of white and then drew into it, carving away the underglaze.

I would really love to see a finished piece. Oh wow this was made a long time ago. Did you use this on low fire or midfire?

Thanks, Everyone! Lebo, I avoid introducing more water to clay tgan absolutely necessary. Water, being an alkali is a deflocculant, dissacociates clay particles. Vinegar, an acid, is a flocculant which is why it makes a great joiner for handles and other parts. I am soooo paranoid of pieces cracking during the drying stage, so I do everything to avoid it. I trust the vinegar. I don't trust water in the leather hard stage. Thanks for viewing, and engaging!

Great video - where did you get the tools you used? Can you tell me the exact name of the stylus you used? I love that size. Every time I look for stylus tools, I can't find them. Thanks.

klp4655 That is a super-cheap one that I bought on eBay! You can order different sizes from lots of vendors...I always look for free shipping...dirt cheap...order different sizes! Search 'pottery tools' or 'stylus' :)

How did you do your bird nest?
@karenthemudnymph6 жыл бұрын
Hi! I used a variety of small loop tools...round and v-shaped. First, I painted the entire section with black velvet underglaze. Then, I lightly sketched the shape of the eggs and began removing the highlights with the tools. I then drew the nest in sections, overlapping the sticks in a different direction after each section. Eeks...that is hard to describe. I recommend googling linocut and/or woodblock printmaking images for inspiration! This is my favorite type of printmaking to do. Thanks for your interest!
