As a black dude myself: I have nothing but the greatest appreciation for RDJ’s tour de force here. He hit all the right notes even though he was walking a precarious line there, but he made me believe he was black. I laughed my ass off since this shit was funny on so many levels and still is. Fact that he took it there -and beyond- almost makes me proud since he is clearly homaging black cinema heroes through Osiris, while in the movie stereotypes are stacked upon stereotypes and the satire of it is layered so thick on top it all. Les Grossman might very well be one of the funniest character parodies I've ever seen. If you're not aware, Tom had a big ass and it just kept getting bigger early in his career. There were tons of rumors and innuendo as to how he rid himself of so much booty, but alas in this film he showcased his ass for everyone to see it. He played that part perfectly. This movie has so many golden comedic scenes and one liners that I hope are not lost to history.

The entire movie is such a masterpiece. I laughed my ass off the entire movie. I didn't know anything about it prior to watching, and that made it so much better haha. The intro alone had me dying and wondering what the hell this movie will be. It did not disappoint

What did he mean with that?
@thrill373 жыл бұрын
@@kingmeat13 Among other things, one that can cause that odor in urine is severe dehydration. Lincoln Osiris doesn't strike me as a guy that would keep up on his water intake, so I assume that's what the line meant. I don't know any official reason, though.
@kingmeat133 жыл бұрын
@@thrill37 thank you. I took it as a meal that was sorta common in black households during that time 'baloney sandwiches', and because he ate so many that's why his piss smelled like that. Either way, funny line

Scott Andrews Because the movie was a parody of Hollywood and was making fun of how people use blackface. Plus it did help that he was fucking hilarious. To me this is one of the best acting performances I have ever seen.

Gene Wilder in Silver Streak did it, but if you're young, you may not remember. Blackface can be done well as a joke. Anything can be, really. The more awkward the subject, the bigger the laugh, if you pull it off. That's the beauty of comedy.

Ok, let me try to clear this up so everyone can be on the same level. RDJ is portraying and satirically playing the overly Southern token black soldier in Vietnam and war movies in the late 70s and 80s. HE WAS NOT TRYING TO PORTRAY A TYPICAL BLACK MAN. It was a brilliant imitation of the movies made around that time! Ever seen "The walking dead"? not the zombie show, but the Vietnam war movie in the 90s? "Dead Presidents"? Even just seeing those two movies right there, You'll COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THE ROLE HE WAS PARODYING. AND HE DID A FUCKING AMAZING JOB. Im half black and I didn't find a damn thing offensive because I'm not some whiny pussy. I laughed my ass off and knew exactly the role he was playing here. It was soo damn good that it deserved an oscar.
