I love the "I've never been in a sub before" line. He is such a smartass.... Earlier in the episode, she mentions the Soviet sub that went missing that she knows had the replicators and that he helped destroy. He claimed to not know what she was talking about. And now he comes with the callback....brilliant!!!!

Which doesn't make a lot of sense. When we send a probe into the outer solar system we use radioisotope generators. It's a perfectly reasonable option for a long-term drone.

If you have produced the isotopes in quantity; you may as well use them. Collapse of the Soviet Union left a lot of technology for the space program doing nothing. All they probably did was take a spare polonium powered Lunakod rover and make it aquatic.
