Hey.. I'm from North Central Texas....I've been an avid angler my whole life....didn't get acquainted with salt water fishing...until I started vacationing to the Texas coast....it's a very long drive...I use to stay on the gulf of Mexico..at Rock Port and the Mustang islands....I started out catching specks and flounder in late spring their....finally got in with some of tge local anglers....and quickly learned how to wade fish them with jigs and grubs....I haven't caught a bunch of flounder....mostly specs...sand trout..and reds....my pb flounder is 20inches.....it was a trophy in my book!! Itching to head back down....they say around Galveston Island is also a good area....as for me...I'm a fan of Rock port....port aransas...Mustang islands....can't wait to head back down there....I've learned alot about flounder fishing from you Nate!!! I'll be armed with a big supply of the hoodwinks....when I go....I'm an avid crappie fisherman in fresh water...so I'm at home fishing jigs and grubs!!!

Man that is awesome, 20 inches is a dang good one! Never been to rockport but Galveston is one of the best all around fisheries I’ve ever fished! Good luck with the hoodwinks can’t wait to hear what you catch with them!!

Caught my PB flounder in 1973 in Baffin Bay , it was 28" can't remember what it weighed, but the ones I used to catch in Baffin Bay were solid Brown, they didn't have spots on them. Caught my PB Black Drum the same day, 48" and was 50 lb's. I was 13 years old at the time...

Please read - The details and knowledge you put outis the best! I've been following you for awhile now. Love your content!!! If you don't mind I want to pass some knowledge back to you and viewers. Trout have really sensitive skin!!! Touching trout with dry hands will take the mucus layer right off and can result to parasites or bacteria that can hurt trout. Simple solution is to just wet your hand in water before handling. It's very uncommon practice but will help every trout that is not harvested! I would love to hear to spread that message because you are a trout master and it's so uncommon! Shout my comment out if you start to practice this method ❤

28 1/2 dormant flounder.at Galveston Island. Under a bridge. I was with a buddy talking, when I noticed my line had slack. As a joke I picked up the rod and set the hook. Little did I know my Pb was incoming. I got some good Photos of it.

My personal best was around 8 pounds in Coldspring Harbor Long Island shortly before that I had one that was too big for the net and spit the hook. That was probably over 15 and believe it or not. My grandmother had the New Jersey state record for about a month in the 60s and someone caught one several ounces is bigger, which may still stand as the state record, and it was 19 or so as I recall. I am seriously considering moving my wife and I from the greater Raleigh area down to Shallotte and I’m wondering what area you are in?
