Wow, at first I thought he was just joking when he was demonstrating how to get the smaller mouth out but no, Tamashii Nations actually went through the effort to fit the mouth in there articulated rather than making it a plug-in accessory! That is FINE engineering on monsterarts part!

My first Tamashii Nations Bandai figure was the SH Figuarts MMPR Red Ranger. Ever since I got it, I've loved everything I've see them produce.

I just picked this guy up earlier today. Lots of great detail and I really like the weight and scale of this figure. I have him in a suspended pose on the stand similar to the one you end the video with. lol Another great figure from SHM.

I have the S.H. MonsterArts Alien Warrior figure and I think I like the Warrior better. I still want to get the Big chap though. Its a really cool alien figure. I freakin love the articulation in these figures. S.H. MonsterArts is supreme when it comes to articulation. Great review :)

I have spent hours comparing some of the major Big Chap versions out there and I can say that.. IMHO: 1 Monsterarts Small, but incredibly well-made and very loyal to Giger's design for such a scale; TRULY articulated, resistant, practical. This is the one you want for both extensive posing and overall consistency, a truly durable high detailed toy. The right compromise between practicality and detail. The only flaws I can see are the overall paintjob not being loyal to the original movie costume and the head dome being way too transparent, revealing too much the inner humanoid skull. A good painter could probably fix those, then it would be the ultimate Big Chap toy for sure, although small. Oh, the tail on this one is not a gum-covered wire: it's composed by hard plastic sections instead, and the tip is diecast (yay!). 2 Medicom Incredibly well-made and extremely loyal to Giger's design, but limited on movements and posing due to the rubber cover. Also, the paintjob is not completely loyal to the colours we see on the original movie costume, yet just a little more loyal than the Monsterarts one. Very polished and 'clean': Medicom sculpted it perfectly, with incredible technical precision, without adding too much visual noise like you see from the Neca one or the Monsterarts one. This one would have been the best Big Chap around, if it would have been fully articulated like the Monsterarts one and painted like the Hot toys one, but all in all, the rubberish cover gives to this figure a very set-like sort of realism which improves even more the likeness to the original movie costume. 3 Hot toys The nearest to the movie in terms of colours, very detailed painting. Althought well sculpted, the head is not completely loyal to the movie and it has some different design on certain spots IMHO. To me, it seems that every one of the other houses except Medicom and Monsterarts, are always failing somewhere at reconstructing the Xeno head straight from the original design by Giger. Can't really complain about the rest of the body and its visual aspects but this one is probably the less-articulated one after the Medicom's. 4 Neca (second edition) First edition is nothing great, but the second one is fair enough. Still loyal to Giger's design. Paintjob stays true to the movie, more than the Medicom's, the Monsterart's and the Revoltech one. The static expression on the face of this one has contracted lips with saliva - it can be cool as it is as if the Xeno is about to open his mouth to reveal the inner jaws, but it can be boring on the long run and you might have preferred this toy to display a much more neutral static expression. The overall design is far better than Revoltech's. Head dome too white though, skull too. This second edition Neca one would probably share the second place with Medicom's, if not for some choices I don't agree with. 5 Revoltech This one is the worst when it comes to body parts. Torso is too thin, overall body appearance is ruined by various factors and appears too slim, the overall shape could have been better but I still prefer this head over the Neca's head or the Hot toys's head, even if this figure is way smaller in size compared to those. Junctions are way too exposed, but the colour palette is loyal to the movie costume more than Monsterarts's and Medicom's. Translucent. This is probably the worst you can get after Neca's first one. Surely the worst from the asian ones (Medicom, Monsterarts, Revoltech). It comes with a translucent alien egg and a fair enough facehugger. If it had a better body, I would have putted this one at fourth position. I like the packaging style of this one very much and its a shame that the overall shape doesn't fit because its head is way more loyal to the movie costume than Neca's or Hot toys's...

NECA is less articulated (can't pull the hunched position at all) and the dome is too white, not saying this one is perfect tho, the dome is way to transparent on monsterarts. The one that got the closer to a good dome was probably revoltech.

Revoltech has an Alien figure. Personally i think it looks way better the color on its is amazing. The head is probably the best part its almost perfect!

+JLCmedia The problem with the Revoltech figure is the articulation isn't as good in my opinion but if you could take the head off the Revoltech and put it on the body of the SH Monsterarts then repaint it a little to match I think you'd have a bitchin figure.

Mine came in the mail, and as I was trying to get the mouth looking just right to pose it, the right side got really loose and just kinda fell out of the top part of the head. Now his jaw just kinda hangs there. .-. Is there any way I can get his jaw back in his head?

Mike, The Almighty Gengar Just cut the head horizontaly open with a StanleyKnife, remove the plastic clear case of the head, put one of the hands in it, close back up and microwave for about minutes! Your figure is back in mint condition! You're welcome! :)

I still say Neca's Big Chap is way better than SH Figure Arts. It's not top notch articulation but it makes of for pose-ability and detail is awesome. Neca has improved and can't wait the Xenomorph Queen coming this year.

Snot Nose So someone saying the Neca version is better is automatically saying he's a fanboy? That's stupid. The Neca one is far better. It's sturdier, bigger and more accurate except for the dome wich is too white on the Neca one. I have both of the figures and when trying to pose thos guy he fell apart in my hands. Haven't had that problem with the Neca Alien yet.
