Huh. I never thought about it, but youre right-I didnt see a lot of tomato dishes in China! It HAS been in Italy and mediterranean countries for a long time, but they started in South America and were cultivated what is now Mexico! Lots of plants in that family are toxic, so it mightve taken a while for new places to adopt eating the foods and cultivating them.
