*I remember the abacus from my childhood.* *It was just a toy, but it brings back beautiful memories.* *This here is a work of art, thank you for sharing and showing how it is made* *ありがとう* 🙏😊

3:53 and 4:13 : I'm surprised that this works, that the pegs find the holes of the beads despite the conical shape, and fast enough that it beats some less random method. Interesting.

This abacus is such a beautiful thing - compare them to an electronic calculator!!! The process of putting the beads on the stick looked unreal!! Just by moving the frame around in the box of beads and they were all in place!!!! Thank you for showing us this.
In Japan, it’s quite common for children to learn. You can search up videos if you’re curious, it’s said to help with brain engagement and can be used to calculate astronomically high numbers with no need of a calculator

Meanwhile in America we can barely use the calculator on our cell phones 🙁 Seriously though, I would like to learn how to use one of these.

Maszyny proste, do tego ludzkie ręce i taka precyzja ! Co z tego,że są komputery - abakus to szacunek dla tradycji a poza tym, gdyby zabrakło prądu, wyczerpały się powerbanki, to co wtedy? A b a k u s.
I know that the crafter explained why the wood dust is left on the machinery, but... all my eyes see are environmental and fire hazards. 😬

How would cleaning your machinery cause misshapened beads? Sounds like an excuse to me not to bother with it.

If the machine is old it might have all sorts of gaps that were plugged over time by the greasy sawdust. Cleaning it out would put some slack into the motions.
