I try to find videos on tachi in English, and for the most part I'm not satisfied, but thanks to this video I learned even more than before, especially the terms. Thank you for the bit of English in the video, it really helped a lot. Just observing as well is so helpful.
Excellent.. many people in the west dont know about the use of the Tachi.. If you use a sword like a Tachi, they say you are doing it wrong. I can now show them this video to educate them.

We worked hard to make this video because we wanted overseas to know about Japan's right culture. Therefore, we would be very happy if you could refer to it. Thank you for your comment.
Thank you so much for this! I had recently acquired a nice Tachi, and while being familiar with Uchigatana, I needed a few pointers on the sword's use and this video and channel is perfect! I've also seen your video on ' Sageo ' and I dare say that is a very useful cord to have, and will in fact commit Western blasphemy and sacrilege by equipping my European swords with sageo as well! Haha!

finally understand why the depictions of samurai has them holding the tachi with hands close the small tang with the longer curve will lead to breaking
Hey heeeey. Maybe I could give a little clarity on the Japanese bits (from a glossing translation). In the beginning, he's explaining that 30% (lit. 3 out of 10) of people put their bokken into their belt "upside down," and that image comes from the tachi, rather than the standard katana. In explaining the differences between the tachi and uchigatana (disregarding the things you can obviously see), the "tachio" is used to more directly connect the tachi to your hip. Another thing he added was that the ring on the grip of the tachi isn't always there. The drawing patterns are (again as you can see in the video) for the tachi are from below or from the side. Since it's longer and more curved than an uchigatana, you can't sheath it in the standard way, as a result you pinch the back of the blade, turn your hand over, extend your arm, and sheath it. The stuff after that was translated, for the most part. Hopefully this helps.

Ah , thanks. I know a little Japanese, but he talks fast.
It would be alright for me to wait longer if it meant that even just a few more things were translated to English for better learning. Its alright if you can't (other languages take time to translate and understand, I would know, I'm learning Spanish and its taking a while). Overall, thanks for this amazing content! would watch more of it.

I’m glad more people are learning about the tachi and realizing it is the better battlefield sword compared to the katana.
