Sha'Carri Richardson removed from plane after altercation with flight attendant

A US athlete has claimed that an American Airlines flight attendant “harassed” and “intimidated” her, before having her removed from a flight.
Professional track and field sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, 22, shared two videos of the incident on Instagram. One shows her discussing the actions of the flight attendant in question with a fellow passenger; the second shows a male flight attendant asking her to stop recording, which she refuses to do.
“You’re harassing me at this point, so I think you should stop,” she tells the crew member, repeating: “I think you should stop.”

I've been on many flights where the flight attendants ask everyone to power off their electronic devices, and that they will also tell everyone when they can turn them back on to use while on the flight. (I've also been on flights where the pilot announced it over the PA system when to power them off and when they can turn them back on, it's usually just for a few minutes during take off)

I worked as a police officer for 35 years. At least, twenty were at an airport, where I had to pull many people off a flight. It's usually the last thing a flight crew wants to do. It means that they fell you will become a bigger problem when they're in the air and they may have to land to have you removed. This will cost them fuel and leave you in a jail cell in some city that you didn't plan to be. You'll also get the bill to top off their tanks and you'll be charged federally. You're in someone else's car when you fly. If you're in my car and I ask you to turn your phone off I'll put you out. And I may disrespect you in the process.

They don't ask people to put their phones away, they say turn them on airplane mode. There's a difference. You can use your phone as a camera, without the cell signal turned on. So, he was out of line just trying to grab the girl's phone in the first place. And never once did he as her if her phone was in airplane mode. And it's not illegal to make a selfie video on an airplane. That's the world we are living in today. That's because you're paranoid for your own personal reasons. First of all, she was wrong for not turning off her phone when asked. The intercom message was literally telling everyone to put their phone in airplane mode as she began arguing with the flight attendant. She should have complied at that moment and everything would've been fine but she chose to blame the flight attendant and that's why things escalated. No one on the plane had a right to voice their opinion and the woman who yelled for Sha'Carri to, "shut the F up," definitely should've been removed as well because she caused the situation to escalate. Sha'Carri only did what anyone would do if someone that they don't know told them to, "shut the F up" and that is tell them to, "shut the F up" and mind their damn business.

In your recording you hear the attendant telling you to put away all devices, that includes your cellphone and this is the rules for all aircraft and they have these rules for a reason, so why drag out something that doesn't need to be dragged??? Just before the flight takes off you are usually asked to put away your device for those few minutes. Regardless of it being on flight mode. Honestly yal just want to cause drama for no reason, 1. You don't want the flight attendants to invade your space but somehow you expect them to know what you doing on your device when it's suppose to be off. 2. Surely you don't expect flight attendants to go to each seat and check that every device in a person hand is on flight mode. She really could've recorded immediately after take off 🙄.

Most airlines have policies with respect to recording or taking photos on their airplane and the crew will shut you down all day long if your use of a camera is disruptive or disturbs the privacy of other passengers. The crew and the pilot have unusually broad powers to police behavior and kick people off flights. If they instruct you to stop recording, you better stop recording. She eff'd around and found out.

​@@woodsie315 I'm glad those passengers were recording on that flight were Mike Tyson was being harassed by another passenger and eventually had to defend himself. If phones in airplane mode are ok, and she only had the cam on herself I don't understand the behavior of the attendant. Usually attendants just say "Sir/Ma'am, please go ahead and turn off your device". That attendant had his hand in her space and quickly removed it and hid behind a curtain when he realized she was recording his behavior. I only heard him repeatedly exclaim "stop recording". She should have turned off and put away her device, calmly sat through the flight and filed a complaint later with the footage. Now all of her own errors have overshadowed everything else and she's dragged her own name through the mud yet again.
