If they hadn't demolished the tracks back then, it would be a good idea to run something like light rail on the old tracks to provide a service for the locals. I love how the team took so much effort to find traces of the old alignment.

STK branch line was a light rail actually. It was running on narrow gauge rail in super slow speed. Therefore, villagers chose to take bus (a villager told me, his grand parents even rode donkey, which was faster then train) so I don't expect the train service would be long lasting.

You're welcome. Please read and share articles on my website too.
Hi Kay and All, if the roofless passenger cars of the Sha Tau Kok Branch Line were modified from the 2 ton industrial wagons being used to built the Beacon Hill Tunnel, then how to prevent the passengers from falls off during their rides? Well, I think the famous Gravity Train of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway MIGHT provided the possible answer!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGbbq4ipg8eNY8k

You don't have to worry passengers falling down from the coach as speed of STK train was really slow. I did a inspection and calculation of the speed, which was around 20km/h. By the way, you shared a fun train ride experience. We did a similar ride in a coal mine too.
