October থেকে February সময়টায় আমরা সবাই বিভিন্ন প্রফেসরদের ইমেইল করি। তাঁদের কিছু রিপ্লাই খুব স্পষ্ট - কিন্তু কিছু রিপ্লাই খুবই কনফিউজিং। কিছু রিপ্লাই দেখে মনে হয় ফান্ডিংটা যেনো হয়েই গেলো! কিছু রিপ্লাই দেখে মনে হয় ফান্ডিং এই সিজনে কপালে নেই...
ইমেইল রিপ্লাই গুলোতে প্রফেসরদের শব্দ খেলার অন্তরালে কি অন্তর্নিহিত আছে - তা বোঝা খুবই কষ্টের। আজকের পর্বে আমরা ৫ প্রকারের রিপ্লাই টাইপ নিয়ে ডিটেইলস এ কথা বলবো -
১। Negative রিপ্লাই
২। Generic রিপ্লাই
৩। “হাতে রাখা” রিপ্লাই (এটা সবচেয়ে ক্রিটিকাল)
৪। Positive রিপ্লাই
৫। Best রিপ্লাই!!

Walaikum Assalam. This sounds positive - however, there is no clear indication or specifics regarding funding. Most likely the Professor is not willing to recruit you into his / her payroll immediately. You can send an "exploratory email" to the Graduate Coordinator, mentioning the Professor's name and the email, and asking whether he / she can provide you any insight regarding possible funds. আসসালামু আলাইকুম। ভাইয়া, আমি বিএসসি ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং শেষ করেছি চায়না থেকে আর আমার সার্টিফিকেট, ট্রান্সক্রিপ চায়নিজ ল্যাংগুয়েজ এ লেখা। এখন আমেরিকা তে মাস্টার্স বা পিএইচডি জন্য এপ্লাই করতে সার্টিফিকেট তো ইংরেজি ভার্শন হতে হবে। আমার ডিগ্রি সার্টিফিকেট, ট্রান্সক্রিপ Translation R Notarization করা লাগবে। আমি এইগুলা কিভাবে করতে পারি ভাইয়া। যদি আপনি এই বিষয় এ কিছু জানেন তাহলে দয়া করে আমাকে একটু পরামর্শ দিন। ধন্যবাদ ভাইয়া।

Bhaia, is there a time limit for when to send emails? I mean, since it is the end of October now and the deadline for applying to US universities is the end of November, is there any point in sending emails now?

Yes you can send a follow up email after 6/7 days. And if he/she doesn't respond to it, you may look for another professor.

It is a generic reply. It is most likely that the Professor will not be providing you with any funding without seeing your works first in the University.

Hello bhaiya how much does a professors interest affect admission decision?. I had gotten a a positive reply from a professor who told me he would get in touch with the admission chair however I was rejected from the university. A lot of replies I had gotten were for example, " I am interested to take you, please let me know if you are admitted". Do professors actually have a say in the admission comittee?

His exact words were "I have encouraged the appropriate people at our lab to get in touch with the admissions chair name you provided. I don't believe they have yet. I will follow up"... this was approximately half a month before decision was announced

He / She has encouraged you to apply and go through a central funding system. If the application fee is within your budget, we recommend that you go through the application process and mention the Professor in your application like he / she requested.
