JFK airport is situated considerably far from the new york city. Taking a cab from the airport is pretty expensive and costs about $140!!
In this video, I show you the fastest and the cheapest way to reach main New York City from the airport in just about $10!! This uses the air train and the subway. We had 4 pieces of luggage with us, but we could easily take this journey without any difficulty.

I wonder why you didn't take the LIRR train from Jamaica station to NY Penn station? The LIRR train had (and still does) wider space for luggage. From NY Penn you could transfer easily to NJ Transit train heading Secaucus, Newark, and beyond 🤔

I f you are traveling ligt and have some time you can get to Manhattan for 2.95 . Take Q10 at terminal 5 and transfer to subway at union turnpike subway stop. Many pilots and stewardesses do that. It's the cheapest way. You can also take the howard beach bus.

Not practical at all. Cab is better in such situations. I'll be flying to JFK in Jan'23 so my master's and will be following the same

If You Were Staying in New Jersey, Why Didn`t You Go To Newark Airport ?

This is not the cheapest option. You can : 1 - take the q10 bus for 2.90 and then transfer for free at the last stop of the bus to any Manhattan bound train for free. 2 - take air train to lefferts boulevard and then take bus or train for 2.90 .
