Early in June lot of small male shads, I usually go out once or twice late in the month when the count is 250k+ for the bigger females with roes, and fill up half the freezer!
@washingtonlife2 жыл бұрын
Yea I really enjoy the females with all those roe.

When is the best time to go Bonneville Dam Shad fishing? And how long does this Shad season last?
@washingtonlife2 жыл бұрын
They run all of June and that’s it. Best time are usually mornings. Thank you for watching and good luck out there

Father day weekend are usually the best time to fish for them. You want to go after the females which are the biggest and normally the peak is at mid June.

Yes as long as you have a Washington fishing license you can fish there but the season is coming to an end for these fish. We will have to wait for next year

This is probably a stupid question but what do you do with the shad? Cook them, grind them for crab bait? I’m headed that way in a few days and was wondering.
@washingtonlife2 жыл бұрын
Not a stupid question at all! I mainly use them for crab bait but when I cook them I usually pressure cook or smoke them. Thank you for watching
@quantoa682 жыл бұрын
Yo, get a smoker for $160, brown sugar overnight, smoke for 4+ hours, oh boy, smoked shads are even better than smoke salmons. Another way, cut lengthwise about 25-30 slits, deep fry them, or slow cook overnight with tomatoes sauce, very yummy and healthy. Last but not least, like he said, I also use the small male shades and heads for Dungeness baits!
@washingtonlife2 жыл бұрын
@@quantoa68 I totally agree smoke Shad is way better than smoke salmon! 🙌🙌
