Thanks for this great video. As a white boy from SoCal I grew up with my Dad listening to Motown and all things 50’s music. The majority of all of my Dad’s friends were Hispanic and I also grew up listening to this incredible Chicano music too, especially when he brought me to his work in East LA and to his friends houses. Thank you so much for introducing me to these vinyl selections. Can’t wait to order them, which I now most definitely will and to spin them often. Thanks again my friend for the terrific video and for making me aware of these.

I'm super happy you did this video! And I'm crossing my fingers that you'll get a interview with Monster Mike to ask all the questions you purposed on this video, that would be amazing! I have all the colored varients for all three volumes, but now I'm debating on whether or not to grab the black versions now lol. I also grew up listening to a lot of those mainstream lowrider oldies that everyone knows amongst souls fans, and the lowrider community. But when you dive in, there is no end to what you find for soul fans. These compilations are a great way to get into what my homies and I would call underground oldies. You made my day brotha man! From the moment I found these, I knew you would love it, and it really makes me happy to see you loving this series as much as I do. Much love brotha man. P. S. Thee Sinseers are gonna be in Philly according to the tour schedule.

That song on the intro reminds me of Mystery Meat's "Profiles." Looks like these LPs you're talking about here are already sold (souled) out. And I spy a Thee Midnighters LP in the background. I think The Cramps talked about how the East LA bands added Thee extra "e" to let people know where they were from. The Premiers' "Farmer John" also comes to mind.

Yes! Thee Midnighters - I have a cassette too! Thanks for the THEE explanation.

The vinyl versions should be double gatefolds with all the tracks.
@PiecesofVinyl19 күн бұрын
That would be nice. But then I’m sure people would complain about the price! Hopefully this is it means more volumes.

I have volume 2 on vinyl and need to order volume 3 soon. I missed out on volume 1 :(
@PiecesofVinyl23 күн бұрын
You can find Volume 1 on Discogs - although it's expensive!

@ yeah I saw it on there but too much to justify buying it right now.

I’ve noticed that you use a compact amp instead of a traditional AVR. What lead you to that decision and do you feel like you get the same volume/quality out of the compact? Thanks in advance!
@PiecesofVinyl19 күн бұрын
This small amp is a cheap stop gap until I eventually upgrade to a separate component system. This replaced my 5.1 surround pioneer system which was more for movies and it sounds way better. But I eventually want to replace this.
