@lorcro20005 жыл бұрын
There are some awesome beginner rides out there for not a lot. And a newbie should be looking at a 250 or some such anyway. If you're the kind of rider who "outgrows his bike" you're focusing on all the wrong things - a Honda Grom is a laugh riot, just in a different way than a literbike. bikes take a bigger hit outside. exposed engine. partially exposed wires... bikes are stored half a year every year, that alone kills piston rings, kills carbs, kills petcocks, anything rubber or steel on the bike corrodes, while cars, unless the paint is chipped, or there is a hole in the roof, can live outside free of rust.

I’m fine with people financing bikes, especially reasonably priced bikes, one of the things I’ve preached is that if you could get just 10% of the 4 wheeled traffic onto motorcycles, the highways would look radically different, and commuting gear, parking, catering to 2 wheeled persons would look much different than we experience now. So if people would finance a Ninja 1000 instead of a used Kia, I support that.

There's an entire website and group devoted to that bike-arguing it's one of the best production bikes made. Fixed the fork seals, middle case drive shaft seal, put a reworked set of gears out of a Venture a friend sent (in exchange for my old set he'd rework) and shimmed the valves. Still running strong with 45k on the dial-those old air cooled inline 4's go a long time if you take care of them. Absolutely nothing wrong with metrics-cheap and Japanese production quality is usually very high-made me a Yammy convert.

The expression is not “Café racer”, it’s “CAFF racer”. British rockers used to race between greasy spoon transport cafes (like truck stops and pronounced CAFFS) and the nearest roundabout and back in the time a single would play on the jukebox. So racing modifications, clip ons, high pipes, rear sets, racing bump seat and what ever tuning mods you could afford were fitted to your Triumph, BSA, Matchless or Norton, and the caff racer was born. A good one was good, say a clubman BSA Goldstar or a Triton (Triumph engine in a Norton “featherbed” frame), with Manx Norton parts. But a lot were bad.

Nice bikes Josh! If I lived an in area where I could ride year round i'd do just the opposite as I do now. I make a car payment and my bikes are cash owned but I'd love to be able to justify a bike payment, unfortunately it'll hurt making payments on something I can only consistently ride 6 months out of the year. Not that $150 is too much by any means as long as there isn't a high interest rate, then a $6500.00 bike becomes a 9k dollar bike when all said and done. Great take though, I can't count the amount of times I just randomly stop at a Dealership looking for great deals, just wish I could stop by HD more often without being heckled. It's right down the street from me, it's my favorite bike and It's not that I don't appreciate what they do and I get it's their job but any conversation with them after you say I'm only looking or just grabbing parts is an angle to convince me to buy a bike and trade mine in, get's annoying and uncomfortable but like i said, I get it.

I got my bike for £900… but the insurance was £600, so meh. Also, you don't have to spend much or have a big bike, mines a 125, I've put over 10,000 miles on it and just did a 180 mile ride yesterday, and I'm still having fun.

@Michael Moretti it was at first, they wanted 1100 quid, I had to search for ages, those comparison sites are bullshit. The cover I've got cost 600, but I have £600 excess and if it gets stolen they don't pay me anything, so basically I have no insurance, the bike isn't worth spending £600 on so if I crash I'm fucked.

I got my first Vtwin this year. 08 Victory Vegas 1600. Ill always buy used, cant justify the extra money to have a brand new bike. My vic was 8k and had 4k on it.

Loved this video. I bought my first bike in almost 15 years in 2016. A 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1300 for $3500. The dealership I bought it from had over 25 used bikes for under $5000. I checked them all out but my V-star cause it was a 1300, bigger than what I wanted. I wanted something that was 1000cc or smaller. It was my brother that convinced me to check out the V-star. I'm glad he did. We put over 3000 miles on our bikes that year riding from the beginning of May until the end of October with a short ride on December 9th before the snow hit. Since that time I haven't had the time to ride like I would like to but I have put another 1100 miles on the bike and it runs better now then the day I bought it. Btw it has almost 80,000 miles on it!

I didn’t watch the video yet but the title sealed the deal for me. I’m trading in my Honda CB300r for a Yamaha XSR900.... just finalized the paper work this afternoon and picking it up tomorrow.

You're right Josh now to be honest I have bought new motorcycles but in the last 12 months I've bought a 2016 Triumph Thunderbird and to me it was a bargain and a 2015 Yamaha Raider 1900 and it was a bargain and I love them both and even if I didn't have my other bikes that I bought new I would love these two bikes I got them both for under $6,500

I recently bought a 2009 SV650 for $4,000 Canadian (~3000 USD) with 12,500km on it (7,650 miles). Bone stock and untouched. If you're motivated and do some digging you can find some decent bikes for cheap-ish.

Perfect video for me. I'm trying to get back into it. I feel the same way about the clubman bars on the Twin. The Triple is hot but not quite right for me. I'd stop into the dealership if I were local. Thanks for the enthusiasm and the videos. It's keeping me optimistic while I lick dealership windows. Someday soon...

I'm also a big guy, 6'4" and 400 lbs. Bought my first bike 3 years ago. A Honda VTX1300. It's an 07, 20k miles when I bought it. Was 4500 bucks, financed it and pay 120 a month, and 20 a month for insurance. Deals are there just might not be a CVO Street Glide.

Now I will be honest, I bought my bike brand new, of sorts. It was a 2017 model, in October of 2018. Still, zero miles and I am the only rider. Okay, it’s a Kawasaki Z125, but it was $3300 out the door. The dealer was making room for 2019 models, so big, BIG, discounts all ‘round. I can happily say that I am on a motorcycle!

I assume the finance would be over three years? In the UK you would be lucky to get a dealer let you ride a used ride. Sold as seen is the usual deal. Private sales "let me just hold that £5k for you while take a ride "

My first bike was a 1974 Yamaha DT175 that I got for $100. I got ALL $100 outta that bike. Now I ride a '09 Shadow that I paid 4 large for. It's very attainable, and for you Rub's that are saying 750cc isn't enough, my little 750 Shadow has no problem flying down the highway at 80 mph all day long. And I am over 6 feet tall and about a cupcake away from 250 lbs.

Good video man. A lot of good 2nd hand bikes out there that are good for some miles. Your Rocket sounds so cool. That near miss would of been a collision here in the UK. They all drive irratic and manouver fast. Nearly everyones a dam rally driver.

Financing a bike is actually better for your credit than financing a car. Bikes are considered a luxury item, where a car is considered a necessity. So, it can actually be good for your financial future to finance it. My credit score has gone up over 200 points since I financed a bike 4 years ago. There are other factors as well, but the bikes have definitely helped.
@MrSlowestD165 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can get a really good bike for those kind of prices, especially if you look in the private sales, not dealer mark-ups. But generally you'll find good quality stuff at dealerships, so you won't have to sift through as much garbage. I don't buy into that "own everything" mentality, I can pay off all my vehicles at once if I wanted to, but I don't because making payments keeps my excellent credit rating. You pay the interest, sure, but the interest ends up being so little, what's the point? Might as well alleviate the burden & pump up your credit. Though when you want to buy that expensive car or that house, then having the good credit really helps ya.
