Our local HD dealer (1 hour away) would wipe their own asses with 2k. Heck, they want 600$ for a damn jacket. WTF?!? The only thing I found relatively affordable, which was a big surprise to me, was the service dept., and they did great and quick work for me. Manns HD, South central Indiana. There is one farther south that is such snobs about "other than Harley" bikes, they make you feel as if it was an intrusion want to buy and install a tire or get an accessory for your "other than" bike. They are close to us than Manns and I just won't go back there. Nice bikes you showed us today. Like another comment or said....makes me want yet another bike. LOL

I live in Wisconsin. My parents had a house down in St. Pete. They actually brought 2 lizards home on some plants one winter by accident. I caught one and kept it in a jar for a good month at least. I lucked out one day and found some fly’s at a remodeling job I was doing. They were barely alive as it was late winter. I fed the lizard with those. Anyway I smuggled the lizard jar in my carry on bag. Flew back to Tampa. Rented a car. Drove to St. Pete back to the house and let the lizard back out into the yard it came from. True story! 🦎

That Road king is what i paid for my first house in 1975 ($24.000). It was a two story brick house with a full basement and a free standing two and a half car garage. I just picked up a 1998 FLSTF Fatboy with 28767 miles on it from the original owner who is an old dude like me. He took great care of it and is is bone factory stock and I paid $3.100.00 for it. I sold both my twin cams (02 FLSTC and 01 FLHRIC) this 98 Evo will be my newest bike I ever own again . I can work on it without all the computer BS it and my 72 FLH is it for me. There are deals out there if you look long enough.

Your Name I currently live in the US in the state of Illinois. I had to travel over an hour away to get my HD Sport Glide. The closest dealer to me didn’t have one and since I wanted the orange color option it didn’t make it easy to find one. I traded in a 2019 CBR650r and before we could agree on the trade in value the sales manager had to call another dealership that sells metric bikes to agree on price with them first. I believe the Harley dealers here have to be grandfathered in to sell metrics. $7200 for a Sportster is insane. The dealership closest to me is selling a nightster for $4995. It looks to be like a nice bike too.

Old carbureted Gold Wings are the way to go. I bought a non running 1980 Gl1100 Interstate in 2013 payed $500 for the bike. i pulled the factory carbs off, bought on eBay a 2bbl intake for a new 2bbl Webber carb. cleaned the rust out of the gas tank. Damn gas tank is under the seat and a bugger to get out. Took the faring and the hard bags off, and made it a naked Gold Wing. 1980 up has electronic ignition. Pulled the worn out stock coils off and installed Accell super coils and plug wires. installed a new water pump and new fuel pump along with new timing belts. Bike runs great as a daily rider. I plan on keeping this bike for a long long time. So you can buy a $500 bike put a little work and money into it and have a great riding machine that will last for many years. i hear youngsters call my Gold Wing a "grandpa bike" that's ok. how many bikes will pass the test of time as an old Gold wing and still keep on ticking after 40 years?

This is a great video! Excellent topic. Many MANY people cannot afford these types of bikes on top of a owning a car. Or if they could in theory just don't want the gigantic payments. I have lots of toys...but they're all old and used. But I love them the same! Lots of people think I may be spoiled or have lots of money, but I really own all older stuff that I got for good prices. When I went and bought my Fatboy I had an old 82 Honda Shadow that I rode all over New England. I changed the oil in it every month and I rode it to work every day, rain, snow, shine. I used to work for the Hartford Insurance Company and they had heated indoor parking for motorcycles. I could ride bike from where I lived to Hartford 15 miles away in about a 1/2 an hour. If I took my car it would have taken 45 minutes because you can't lane split in a car, or at least most cars. (I actually did lane split in an old Honda 87 accord once but that's another story) And I could park right under my office and it was great. I sold the Shadow to a Harley tech who wanted to hard tail and chop it and he did. The only thing I ever did to that Honda was replace the stator. I started to put in synthetic oil and I found out you were not supposed to do that on old Hondas because Synthetic oil gets hotter than conventional oil and the old 70's and 80's stators are not designed for synthetic oil. Live and learn and learn how to replace a stator...I actually got the money for putting down on my 01 fatboy from an insurance settlement because my neighbor ran me over with her car (Evil Left hand turn) and I was paid 2500 dollars for the totalled bike. It was like January 20th and it was like 5 below zero out when that happened. I was sad to see the Magna get murdered off like that but hey the bike was a gift and I had the parts lying around to fix it.

The TC 88ci with 30k needs cam chain tensioners NOW! Trust me, if you buy an 88 and it has not been done already...BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!! I turned a possibly leaking case into a new motor minus the case and the heads. I also thought a Carbed HD was a good idea...And my 06 FLSTN was one of the last carbed bikes. Wish I would have got the 07 or newer with the better oil pump for the cam chain tensioners, fuel injection, bigger motor and the 6 speed. Still love my grocery getter! Put some old beat to shit Road King Classic bags on the Deluxe and the windshield being ugly and causes buffering has only been on when it was really cold. So it sort of looks like a Road King...Oh...and if I had it to do again...Touring Chassis bike...Slop Tail is not just a joke!

Being that I was cooking dinner as I was watching this, it made me super happy to hear you had a 1500 Vulcan! I’ve got an ‘03 Mean Streak that I’m absolutely enamored with! I’ve only had two bikes, but this one is my absolute favorite!

My spedo dont work either brother. Been trying to get my ole girl running right again, its hell. One problem after another. But it's the strongest bike I've ever had. Honda VTX 1800C thinking of switching to Harley with as much as I watch your channel. Used to hate em, thinking of getting the new 2020 iron 883, my buddy has the 883 his is 2016 though, rode it before it's very nice I love it

Great vid! A little bit of everything in this one. Hope you got to take that road trip. Stay safe and keep the rubber side down, specially far from home. 👍
