So now let's go into details:
It is commonly believed that getting Schengen visa is very tedious and time consuming but actually it is not. If you know all the requirements and prepare your documents well, it is pretty straight forward process.
You need to understand below steps and requirements:
1. Choose your country to apply visa:
Mostly people visit more than one country when they travel to europe, so if you are also doing the same then country where you will spend most of days, will be the country where you need to apply visa.
2. Travel tickets:
You need to show tickets where your arrival and departure dates are confirmed.
3. Accommodation bookings:
You need to provide all the confirmed hotel/hostel bookings for your whole trip. It is necessary to show that you have place to stay during your travel.
4. Important documentations:
a.) Visa Application Form:
Download the visa application form from VFS global site and you can also get sample application form to fill it right. Don’t forget to sign the form.
b.) Valid passport:
Passport must be valid for 6 months at the time of application and at least there should be 2 blank pages
c) 2 recently clicked passport pictures according to specifications required for country
d) Leave letter from your company (if employed)
With this letter, it will be clear that you will return to work in your home country. You should ensure that this letter clearly states your designation,length of your employment and dates, leave dates which should cover your travel dates
If you are student then get NoC from your school.
e) Proof of financial stability
Payslips of the past three months and your employment proofs,
If self-employed: You should submit certificate of proprietorship or other proof of ownership 
f) Income Tax Return form or Form 16
This will show that you have earned your money legally
g) Personal bank statement of the past three months with sufficient funds
This will prove that you have sufficient money to travel and you can manage your own trip. It depends on many factors, every country has different minimum requirements for daily expenses. Ideally you should have at least 1.5-2 Lakhs in your account.
h) Travel Insurance
This is very important, you should get an insurance which should give at least 30000 Euro coverage during your travel.
i) Proof of civil status
Marriage certificate, birth certificate of children
j) Residency proof
If your passport address is different thann your current residence address then you must submit residence proof such as electricity bill, telephone bill etc
k) Cover Letter
A letter addressed to the consulate you are applying. It should contain the following:
Purpose of visit
Complete itinerary
List of all documents that you are submitting
Good luck with your visa processing.

Last 3 years ITR is ideal..but if you have for only few years like 1-2, you can still submit the application with form 16 and other proofs...but it’s always recommended that you try to get as many as possible ITRs

If I first buy flight tickets, book accommodation, and buy travel insurance but after that if I don't get Visa then what ? Isn't it right to apply visa first? So that in case if my visa application get rejected then I don't have to worry about anything. You must aware that most of the flight tickets are nonrefundable and if I go for refundable then I have to pay more.

For visa application you need to submit travel itinerary, insurance and accommodation proofs so there is no way that you will get visa if you will not submit these documents. And yes there is always a risk but it is easy to plan it..first of all you need to collect all other documents and if all of these are in place and you have not missed anything then there is less risks..apply in advance and you will get the visa..there is no reason that embassy will not issue visa if you have all documents in order.. Also for flight tickets, there are options to insurance in minimum prices..that will also give you assurance for money back..just check all conditions carefully...

Few Questions: I will be traveling from Paris to Bruges and then to Amsterdam. I will be traveling in between these countries through trains. So, do I need to buy train tickets now and put them along with my VISA documents? About Bank Statements - Can I get them printed online and get them attested by bank or do I have to directly ask bank to give me attested copies from their end? Ok so you have 2 questions..so for first...you need to show proof of money so if you have to show like your trip is being sponsored by parents then you can get visa otherwise they need to know how did you get money..but your second part is very easy..you will easily get a visa if someone is sending you an invitation letter and then if they can also show their accommodation proof, and financial records to show that they will pay for your expenses..then it’s very easy to get visa

Thank you so very much Madam for your response. Now, let me very clearly tell you, we are priests of four generations. I am unmarried and have joint accounts with my parents. I am not a student and want to go for a visit to Europe after 2 years. So, how can I show my earnings through any documents ? I hope you know how priests earn their money in our country. It's a famous temple, but I think priesthood is neither a job nor a self employment as this is not a business. Another, important thing is we save most of our money in various Post office schemes. So, in those joint accounts and FDs that we have in the different banks we (my parents and me) never ever need to file income tax return. Now, after carefully reviewing my financial situation do you think , I can get a Shenzhen Visa. I can assure you again that I have enough money (but in joint accounts) in different Banks and Post offices that I can go to Europe many times, and all of it is legal money... but I am doubtful of convincing the visa officer as this situation seems quite complicated to me. Please help me. And, forget about my European friends sponsoring my trip. I have enough money to stay there.... I only can stay in their homes as a friend. Just like we go to our relatives' place...
