Hi Daniel. I have just begun practicing Tattoo after 20 years of not doing it. Ihad a career and was side tracked by lifes demands etc... After battling illness for tha last 4 years my priorities changed somewhat. I find that i have come back into a world that is so much more advanced and user friendly. My initial searches for tutotials seemed to centre more on the ego of the tattooist and the use of much confusing vocabulary. I came across your videos quite by accident, and after time served as a high school teacher, I must say that your videos, style of delivery, in depth and patient explanations are truly inspirational and worth while. As of yet I am not in a position to become a patreone. The illness i battled was cancer twice in a row. Luckily (and with a lot of willpower?) I have come through the other side, and am well. Finances are not great, but coming from a fine art background, I feel I have now settled on use of my skills in a way I can enjoy doing every day without boredom or tediousness. I was a portrait artist, working in paint on canvas, and fine pencil work. I think if I had not discovered your videos I would not have found the enthusiasm I now have for transfering my skills to tattooing. So I am sorry to waffle on. I just want to say thankyou for your non ego based skill and helpful information. I feel I have much to learn, but I feel that process is much more interesting with you in this proffession/art world. As you say in every video, "I appreciate you", and i sincerely mean that. Whe I was painting/drawing etc... I would get paid commission work, but that was irregular. Keep up the amazing work. Each video improves and your verbal teaching skills are incredibly natural. Thankyou. Dean from Wales (if you know where that is? We have a very cool flag)

Layering is a great thought process. That makes a lot more sense to me than shading

I'm struggling with mags. I don't know if I'm too hesitant or if I'm set up wrong. I have the needle slightly slanted with the machine at about 7 volts, 3.6 stroke, but when the needle hits it doesn't puncture. My skin just goes red. It's a good quality needle so I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

For shading I use like 6 volts. Try a slower voltage and see if less strokes cause less trauma. You can even go down into the 4's and 5's depending on your hand-speed. It's a learning process of what works for you. If you're at a 7 you need to move your hand a lot faster. I line at 7-7.5. Hope this helps.

Hey. If you go too light on real , won't the ink fall out?
@InfiniteSnake

That's kinda what I was thinking... I know sometimes its on purpose to help with the gradient. It will always heal lighter so maybe thats the goal?

Really enjoy your videos! Is tattooing reel skins similar to human skin??
@DanielYuck
@DanielYuck Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your kind feedback and support! This is a great question! I would say that fake skin and human skin are non comparable and for many reasons. Human skin bleeds and fake skin does not. Human skin also accepts the ink differently over fake skin. However fake skin is great for simulating human skin in a way that allows us to become more comfortable with the tattooing process and in that sense they are similar. I feel that we can practice enough on fake skin to the point where when we tattoo human skin we will be well equipped and know how to adapt to human skin. Everything I have ever learned on fake skin translates over when I am tattooing human skin. 2 different experiences but very very similar workflow,
